Since when?
If you are willing to trawl through the old RP stories (might do it myself later) you'll find at least one RP story with the phantoms working for the nomads, admittedly the nomads suspected something was fishy, but they most definately were not and have not been used as steeds.
Hell, my old phantom character had a nomad battleship and before that a nomad cruiser (which no-one else ever used until I started being successful with it, then it got spammed).
Multiple personality characters can be so much fun:)you can have them start massive arguements during a fight if you keep missing, you can have big arguements over which persona gets to fire which weapons... etc.
I am personally opposed to the idea of an alliance with the Phantoms for the Nomads, for 3 reasons;
1; The Nomads and Phantoms are both servants of galactic empires, and two imperialist nations generally don't get along with each other.
2; The Phantoms are, at least in the outset, a bigger threat to the Nomads and/or Daam K'Vosh than regular humans are, and would probably be considered a higher priority target
3. The Phantoms, like the humans, are intruding on Daam K'Vosh space, which the Nomads have been assigned to protect. So, adding together the threat element (not to mention the fact the Nomads may have other possible objections, such as conflicts of ideology, ethics, religion etc.) it seems to me more likely the Nomads and Phantoms would be at war with each other, and Nomads would place Phantoms as a higher priority target than regular humans.
I was just pointing out why the phantoms don't consider the nomads steeds. Actually, like I said, my old character Bloodfrenzy prefered nomads for his shipcrew and boarding teams because they are so ruthless, plus their easy to please, give em enough humans to possess/rip apart and they're happy for months:)
Besides which, the phantoms are out to destroy the house goverments, are practically allied to the only other non-human faction in FL (cardamine changes people so that they are no longer considered 'human'). The old enemy of my enemy is my friend (for now) comes to mind, besides which das wilde would be considered 'unlawful' so theres no reason that I see for any phantom to engage a wild (except self-defense).
The Phantoms are out to destroy the House Governments, but so are quite a few criminal groups the Nomads still happen to be hostile to. To the Nomads, they are representatives of a higher power that probably rivals their own masters in power.
The House Governments are an annoying upstart in the galaxy with no known support from galactic superpowers, the Phantoms are a branch of a far bigger, galactic "tree", which in the long term represents a far, far, far larger threat to the Nomads and the Daam K'Vosh Empire than a group of technologically inferior squatters.
True, my point was that maybe the non-human factions should gang up on the human or be neutral maybe. Then once the humans are gone they can switch their resources to fighting each other.
Afterall, the nomads, even with das wilde support, don't have the numbers or technology to fight on more then a couple of warfronts indefinately.
Being friendly/neutral for now would allow das wilde, with nomad support I guess, to focus their resources on retaking rheinland.
Thats my point basicaly, no-one as old as the nomads are going to be daft enough to pick more fights then they can handle.
