Thats why i creating this class of ships! More snub cover,if we cant block caps to public - then we must do them weaker if they lonely. Bombers will change this.
RAID enemy house,when it has submarines without snub cover - this is full suicide.
Thats why people will take at min 4 bombers for cover.
And about using cruisers like submarines:
I personally have Hel cruiser with 1 Jaeger-Sucher missile turret.(190k dmg) Others-solarises.
Install AU8(only 20 cargospace) and cloak.
My submarine-like Hel can be in cloak up to 7 minutes-enough for fire 3 or 4 missiles, then escape.
No capital ship can turn around and chase me from 5,5k distance in 20 seconds. And cruiser missile distance more better than SNAC one.
Want heavy submarine-use heavy cruiser with 2 basic cruiser missiles.
Only thing you need sacrifice to get submarine from cruiser-cau8.

you cruiser Hel - RH cruiser,they have no access to MOX,only Hfuel.this is much lower time than mox,this is near 5 min only.
Hel cant Launch 10 torpedos ( 1.6 mil damage) and shot 1 light mortar on target in one time.
Your Hel not selling with cloak,you need buy it on open market or build base for it.
And if you will use cloak - so this is only for 1-2 attack,but again,not AGAINST BS to smash them.
Submarines can pursuit their target very long with this cargo hold 2750 mox \ 60 sec = 45 min in cloak.Is this not enough to enter enemy territory,attack them and go back in cloak?
And cruiser will be more faster than submarine,submarine slow shot and cloak - this is it tactics.
Cruiser have another target in game - open fight,submarine unit - for diversion attacks inside enemy rears.
I like the Idea of Torpedoboats, but it really has to be very, very defenseless and it should have a GB cargo hold, it'd be something like the ace, a very heavy attack force wich is rather useless in closer combat, like let's say artillery.
Give it the half of a Gunboat hull, a Freighter shield and 2 GB towers, mb 4-6 Torpedoslots and that's it.
And ~300 Cargo space, every house should get one and a new torpedo should be introduced then, with less agility and more dmg.. or so.
How about we wait for careers becomming true careers before introducing new ship classes?
As we have unused classes already, it would be better idea to modify those in order to provide more diversity with what we have already, instead of spamming developers with new headaches to create and balance everything out.
EDIT: Probably name spaceship does not ring a bell to you? If you are not capable of discussing the idea and instead pick on words, then why the hell are you even using internet? Go bully and/or mock someone in real life, preferably the ones who would provide you challenge to do that or provide you a lesson in hand-to-eye "cordination".
Nikita, before posting such "ideas" try to make them yourself in a custom mod for disco on your local computer, make some video or SS, would be more useful.
And naming your new osom ship class "submarine", do you know what that word means?
