So I guess you play Star Trek Online for the gameplay, then?

I play it because I like space sims, and I enjoy noodling about multiplayer gaming theory, so a multiplayer space sim is interesting to me even if the fiction it uses is utter crap. Coincidentally this is also a good explanation for why I play Freelancer.
Heck, you can even blame Star Trek for why I'm here at Disco, even.
Back in the day, I used to go to Lancers Reactor where all the mods were, and I downloaded several of the Star Trek ship mods for my single player game. After flying around Sirius in a TOS Cruiser and Destroyer, I decided that maybe I'd like to play some of the other mods available.
And the most popular mod was Disco - so I downloaded it, played singler player, and then one scary and fateful day --- went online into multi-player. (Mostly shortly after the time we got cable internet, since I lived out in the country and playing anything multi-player on dial-up is simply an exercise in masochism). The rest is disco history ...

I love Trek. Always have since my Dad had it on T.V. while we watched dinner when I was a kid. That was TOS between his marriages. I loved it and still do.
Looks on his desk
Next to me is the full movie set of the original cast plus the last Trek movie. My desk back home has several models across it:

Well... suit yourself, I guess.
On topic: As far as Trek fandom is concerned, I consider myself a mild enthusiast. I've only really got into Trek in the last few years, as I was never really exposed to it while growing up. A few years ago we got cable TV at home, so I now watch TNG / VOY / ENT when I can (which airs on the Sci Fi channel). In combination with the new Trek movies and playing STO (since it went F2P), that's got me thoroughly interested in all the universe has to offer.

i love trek and star wars i went to see star wars when it first was in cinemas hre in uk in 1976, i was 5, i was hooked
then i also watched the original trek, spock kirk and all (known as TOS)
they should not be compared they both have their strengths and weakness, both are superb at what they want to achieve and do
btw heres a pic of my dad at a trek book store opening some years back
