Personally I say remove it. It shouldn't really belong here, and guard systems can be used for pvp training purposes. If a player wants to be oorp, he/she can play on another server perhaps?
Well, take the KoF for example. They are a fighter/freighter/transport group. If their Fighters want to train, they don't have a guard system to duel in. Connecticut is something of a guard system for the non-military.

If Connecticut was linked to all home systems, we'd have to stop loaded transports from coming in.
Or we just put Jump holes on the edges of the system and remove the trade lanes.

Too bad we can't have a jump hole into conneticut from each home system, but only one exit, which is scripted to remember which home system you came from, and sends you back there. If it were possible (and I don't see how it could be), I could fly in from New London, meet someone who flew in from Omicron Alpha, and when we exit, it sends me to NL, and him back to Alpha.

How about this?
Add a few more systems in some hotspots like... Theta (close to eta jumphole) for the corsairs and outcasts, One in Kusari, one is Bretonia, one in Rheinland, and one in Liberty. (hear it out)
Then get rid of the Connecticut/Newyork jump hole. Remove the bases in Connecticut, and have the one way jumpholes from all the systems to Connecticut. And have bases at the individual systems, for people to dock on.
This means that Connecticut is now accessible to everyone, without it being abused by traders as a shortcut.
Only downside is Connecticut itself might be a bit crowded, but atm it seems like its a bit underused anyway, and everytime you die, you have to make another jump into connecticut.
Above is still the best idea so far, in my opinion.
Many entrances= convenient.
No exits = only useful for PVP
No internal bases= no chance of being trapped.
All we have to do is make it a MASSIVE pain for traders to use it.
Step 1: Make Connecticut the size of Newcastle.
Step 2: Remove trade lanes. Put all bases in the same general are they're in.
Step 3: Place the jump holes on the edge of the system in different locations, to avoid abuse.
Step 4: ????
Step 5: Profit!

B: Agreed, one way jump holes, so you have to die to get out, and traders would lose their cargo. Could you imagine the Alpha-York Cardi abuse? Or the Berlin-Leeds Diamond abuse?
