Unselie, comparing Bretonia military structures to Nomads is comparing absolutely different things. No idea where you got that idea of civilian Nomads, it isn't there (like there are no nomad pirates, no nomad commerce companies). Analogue of that kind doesn't work. Keepers are the remnants of the Nomads in Sirius. Others were gone via hypergate. The remnants encompass various castes, a feature which will be introduced in 4.85, but the distinction was played in a relatively small fashion by certain members already. That's all that is left there. Disagree or not - it is completely irrelevant. I may disagree with certain things going around, how certain factions do, how certain individuals do, but I keep it as my personal opinion and does not put it over the others, as a matter of fact you hardly would ever hear me discussing such things, I stick to my business. Convincing every single person out there is not a part of my plan. However I would like to remind you and others that ideas are welcome, after all many current members came up with their own styles and ideas, which were later made part of a whole. What cannot change is the basis, the foundation, so anything new have to be built on it. But so are the most of all factions. The difference is that others have more detailed background information on them, whereas Nomads had very little, so much was improvised and made of developer leftovers. Hence further definition and more visible borders, they are the necessity that holds consistency of roleplaying models, methods of interaction and integration into the "big picture" and puts forth further enhancements and development. This is much different to pre-existing and originally playable factions, but inevitably going towards to be as defined as they are, perhaps on certain things even surpassing. So drawing parallels between them and this is preemptive and largely ignores major factors, such as those I mentioned here. Otherwise it's just pretending to be colorblind and assuming the world is colorless for everyone else too. It doesn't work that way, nor will make myself colorblind just to reach very specific individuals of the audience, which, thankfully, has majority able to see the colors, if you get my point here. Everything needs time and effort, I put my both into this. There is no way back, sorry, much has been done, much is ahead, and I keep going carrying it, this my burden, unless some want to actually help, as opposed to mere arguing (in rather pointless and inefficient manner that seems to be dominant around as many here don't even know what they want in the first place). Unless someone wants me to drop it and walk away. But some help me from time to time, some became regular contributors as in true spirit of collaboration, and I value their time and effort much.
But this is going in a different direction to the original post, so that's it. I've said more than enough already. Anything beside it - address via PMs/skype/etc.
And that is partly why you didnt get into the Keepers.
And what the whole selection thing is all about.
However, Timezones ARE a pain, I'll give you that.
Not much we can do about that - other than staying up way past bedtime.
For other people: If you want to get into the Keepers, PM or Skype Treewyrm to let him know that you're intending on trying out.
It's all there in the faction status post. He has people set up to help him with the selection process.
But: Start at the bottom. Be humble. Be patient. Do not rush things. Research, Research, Research!
And Wait and never give up. Treewrym is very busy with modding, modeling, and setting up for 4.85, and faction leadering.
I will say this much, Being a Keeper isn't for everyone. Some people just don't have what it requires. And it requires MUCH.
(And nothing - but I'll leave that up to you to decipher.)

Timezones are a problem for some, but nothing I can do about it I'm afraid. Some have school, some have job, some both and so on. Myself I have full time job that leaves very little time. I used to play on US servers back then at WoW, I eventually gave up because of timezone issues. Best not to play if it affects the health, nothing good comes out of that. The faction majority here are within European timezone, although we have some from US/Canada too and they play with us. I suppose it depends on available playtime, and that's often very individual regardless of timezone, everyone has a different time available they can and want to spend on the game.
Still, new members are accepted from time to time, for example three players were accepted recently. Nothing is ideal but the process works well already, several enhancements are coming to make it even better and easier. However the primary task of any new faction is in management basis: getting solid core player base.
