Preserved stores. They likely didn't just pitch a tent and call it home as soon as they landed. The sleeper ships are large, so large infact that over the course of the construction of the first colonies they were confirmed to have been disassembled and used in the construction of the infrastructure on atleast one occasion.

Secondly. First priority on settling a world is to pick a nice pretty one that you can work with, and that means soil samples, environmental scans and analyses and so forth.

Thirdly, by the time that the colony ships were launched humanity had already surpassed our technological state, and then some. They would have known how to manipulate the genetic structure of a plant based organism with relative ease at that point; conservation and preservation of food supplies is a crucial factor when waging a war.

So could please explain to me why my suggestion was so preposterous?

I like your idea, sounds like something the Farmers should be working on.

I'll agree about the pot, but in order for you to attempt to pidgeonhole the boundries of someone's RP postings & try to pass it off as a 'reminder' you have to show proof.

My argument:

Today, there are alcohol recepies that are hundreds & hundreds of years old...& just because over 800 years have past in Sirius since humans left earth does not mean that the knowledge of distilling alcohol suddenly & magically dissapears...

or the know-how for a chemist to make sodium penethol (truth serum) for that matter...& considering our current knowledge of cloning, then it's not a stretch of the imagination to give the benefit of the doubt to repopulating Sirius w/ plants & animals originating from earth.

As far as I can tell, the only concrete thing you have to go on for this post is the info card on the synth pot.

The rest is just your opinion.

Heck the Egyptians had been makeing beer since like 15,000 BC (recorded) Prisoners make shine out of bread. ALcohol is an easy one.

It would be fun and hillarious, and you better believe someone packed some seeds away, somewhere, one one of the ships. Really.

Koords character came here from Earth not on a sleeper ship. Ask him if he brought some, and if it was seedless.

I give up. No use in trying to convince A to turn B.

*sigh* I'll save us both time to prevent:

I politely asked you to explain your reasoning to me, I'm willing to listen to what you have to say. Which evidently, is nothing.

No. I'm just not in the mood for debate. The server has crashed three times, nobody else is home, I have no car, I am tremendously bored, and I've had one argument already today.

To be honest, I feel like skinning a small creature alive right now.

Who said anything about an argument?

I actually would like to hear your reasoning.

*ahem*

I regret nothing!

Perhaps we should make a list of all Roleplayed items that have been brought or synthesized from earth?
So no other misunderstandings happen?

Also, I was not pwned.

Ha HA HA!

Cool thread!;)

What is in the bars on every station?

Eddie Juice!

You take water, mix it with Pharm and pure Oxygen. leave it for 10 days in an old H-Fuel container.

The combination of the activated H-Fuel properties and the neutralizers in the Pharm concoction give you...

*drum roll*

Eddies Rum!

Point is:

With a little imagination you can turn a pile of sand and a couple of matchboxes into Daytona!

Humans would definitely have brought illicit substances along, and that which they could not bring, they would have re-invented. We are such creatures of heritage and tradition that we would name a thing just to remind us of something else!

I call all forms of Creme Caramel 'Flamby' because when I was a kid 'Flamby' was a product. As a result, most restaurants I go to know what i am asking for when I ask them for Flamby... lulz. All my friends call it that too.

*yawn* just bored myself.. I'll stop yappin now:)
