What ego. If he insults me as a player, I can deal with it. If he insults my character, I will also deal with it. Just IRP.

Bad RP? Sure. Worthy of you killing him for insulting your ego? Not really. And in the end, it's all about ego.
Oh right, because the Character you are -Role Playing- isn't someone who can get offended at all. /sarcasm
Ego has nothing to do with that. If you rob me and i insult you after, what would you do? Take it like a good girl or insult/hit back? I will tell you what i'd do - Punch you in the face (or even shoot you somewhere) so you remember me and that you should never insult a robber, spit on you and just walk/run away, depending of the cops situation. Either way, it's a lesson to learn. Don't screw with a pirate, or you will get slapped.
Sure..pirates can be mean, unpredictable, etc... but this is also a game with rules. And skirting the rules just so your character can give himself an ego boost by shooting someone who is, for all other purposes, helpless seems like just a dick move.
There's a big difference between role-playing a dick and actually being one.

Yes please 8) let me be in that tutorial pls PLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIZZZZZZZZZZ 8|
Ok back to topic, so ye, I think we should just ignore them if it's an ooRP insult, if it's an inRP insult just go "Allright, we've got a big mouth here, hand over the goods now, I don't need your worthless piece-of-life comment."
How about demanding for goods if he insults you? If he dropped the cargo, you ask for extra money, if he paid the money, you order him to drop the cargo.
Well my experience is just I mostly just laugh at them inRP and let them continue. If not, threatening him inRP that the next time wont be as funny as this one, so I write his Char name into my Black List and the next time he approaches I wont RP as kind as before, well that's how I would do it. Not as kind means, if he has Ore insta drop RP if he has useless Cargo rise the requested cash amount and if he doesn't comply shoot him.
So my Idea would be, leaving the matter to a "See you next time" RP.

Problem lies within rules and common logic. While terms "Disco" and "logic" seemingly do not follow, abusing unlawful after paying him shouldn't be a thing that would go unpunished because "artificial server rules".

This quote below by Snake is something every pirate could do without turning things into a problem:

But, no. Players with the bigger egos would rather "punish" the helpless trader for daring to insult his e-peen after just raping him, so they give themselves a blue as a treat.
My pirate Chars don't roll over and let people insult them, unless of course that is part of the characters RP.
InRPly, our characters are entiled to react accordingly to insults thrown at them by the traders. The trader is barking up the wrong tree if he insults the pirate after the encounter. It's like being set free by a gun-wielding kidnapper but throwing slurs at them whilst you're still within firing range.
If you're so overly paranoia that, as the trader, you can't distinguish between an inRP ego and an ooRP ego, then you're being needlessly silly and acting like a drama queen.
Space is dangerous. There are mean people around. Get over it.
Lolwut pirates is the sol reason I stopped playing here 1.5 years ago.
I seen groups of up to 10 pirates sit in a system and say "2 mil or dai, to a each of us" so 20mil pirate demands? Admins reaction when reported? not a dam thing.
I seen "oh your level 80, give me 50 mil or dai, I know you got it" Again when reported not a dam thing.
Also on other side I have seen the silent trader, that just cruises non stop, then yells " I report you" after you kill him. Then has the nerve to come through same TL 10 minutes later again fully loaded.
The RP was why I started here, and the lack of it is why I left.
I would come back, and have peeked in a few times, but all my accounts were wiped, and after losing 9Billion in ships and Chars alone with my chars from 4.86 I just do not want to go through the effort.
