Speaking from practice, over-complicating events only leads to sourness.

This thread is rich in the resources of hypocrisy, stupidity, childish behavior and otherwise pointless reasons to be upset.
So an event went bad. That's a pretty common occurrence around here if you hadn't noticed. People get pissed when outcomes don't go their way all the time, or if they're cut short/boycotted or something else stupid happens.
At the end of the day - whatever happened and whoever is pointing fingers at who - this is just a game. There's no reason to shit all over the people who volunteer to work on it (in spite of some serious behavior issues that have risen up over the months.) and there's certainly no reason for those people to quit when the call outs start coming in. Unfortunately this is a very thankless place, full of a lot of ungrateful people who prefer instant gratification to challenges. Things like insta-kills are both hated and loved by some. Fights are either too long or too short. There will, as far as I'm concerned never be a middle ground in which every person will be happy. You just can't make it happen.
And everyone giving them shit for not being able to take the heat? Put yourself in their shoes. When has yelling at people ever done more than bring them down and make them give up? We should be trying to reach a mutual resolution and resolve all these stupid communication issues, and everything else.
Frankly I couldn't care less what happened at the event today. It's the attitude afterwards that worries me the most.

I think the community is worth the effort. Just because people are upset with how you handled these events doesn't mean we don't appreciate the effort that has been made. Some people said some things that were clearly out of line in the heat of the moment, as is the case when dealing with a diverse group of people sometimes. Am I personally upset with the way it was handled, of course I am, but I still appreciate that the effort was made, as do many others from what I can tell.
[01.06.2017 03:20:18] CONSOLE: Base Iejima Station is under attack by (TC)-Jiro.Yutani!
[01.06.2017 03:20:23] Death: (TC)-Jiro.Yutani was put out of action by a hostile vessel.

Just an observation.... but I think the event team needs to have a thread created after these events that's essentially an 'after action report' in which they describe what happened during the event, and ask for community feed back to make the next event better. I believe that's what Durandal is attempting to do with this particular thread. I've been out of the loop for a while, but I feel an event AAR would certainly help bring in more ideas, there could also be an AAR / Event discord channel.
I sadly missed the event, but seeing the aftermath I think I should be glad that I did. I knew one side would end up bitter, but I didn't expect both sides to be bitter.
Sometimes I think the endless status quo and nothing changing was better than the story actually progressing at a reasonable phase. Far less people got angry at nothing changing than those that now get angry at things changing not in their favor.

took you long enough
also glad to see nepotu is still hurf durfing about a few dozen lines of code I wrote while drunk lmao
It was a trial event to work things out, don’t shite on the devs just because things didn’t go a certain way for everyone ffs
I enjoyed it, these events are what makes action in this game
People get annoyed because they didn’t get their way, well tough, its not always going to be
“I log on coz I'm great at pew pew and I always win” that’s the wrong attitude
An event like this mixes up the normal run of the game

Yeah, this is exactly what I've been saying too. The weekly updates that take away people's toys are the thing creating the atmosphere that Justin is complaining about.

Not what I'm trying to do here and I'm pretty sure the point was lost on all but one or two people, who have chosen to make this a staff failing instead of recognizing their own faults. An AAR isn't necessarily a bad idea but I'd rather handle it in a more controlled environment with people who can be trusted not to go off the rails when things don't go their way, so probably something like a Discord channel, yeah.
