Why liberty cant figure out new way of making ships.. there is always batter way..
And.. in the last topic about same ship but with glass bridge someone mentioned that you should use some other texture that looks "new" i mean some ultra high tech .. ceramic plating or what ever guy said. I mean that texture is on every liberty ship.. why wouldn't freelancer scientists make new way of hull making with some other materials .. it would look much better.
All these things.. ships of same class are created.. Why cant anyone make really new ship that would be added as new and not replacement..
Why.. disco is standing still ship vise. All new ship class that pops up is denied. No one wants disco freelancer ships to evolve everything is same as it was on the beginning.
Keeping vanilla feel.. eh? If thats the reason then I don't know...
The latest iteration is better, but still looks "Omicron-y" (Zoners, Order, BHG... wait, you made all those ships, no wonder...). Liberty vessels don't easy toward the front, they ease away from it- on the gunboat and cruiser, this is by tapering off at the back, while the Dreadnought starts with a giant winged axe and doesn't get much wider as it goes back- each way keeping the impact on the front. Even though the dreadnought front gets smaller, the vertical shape makes it more aggressive rather than the more "passive" horizontal tapering well suited to Zoner vessels and what have you.
Re-designing the front end to be "stronger" would go a long way to making this a distinctively Liberty ship. The mid-section and back look good, and fit with Liberty pretty well. Keep at it, it's got promise.
EDIT @ Sead: Keep in mind that the Westfalen is a veteran of the 80-Years War and nearly identical to a modern Rheinland Battleship. Compared to vanilla, discovery technology is already advancing staggeringly fast. Standard warships should look like existing ships, though experimental projects are deserving of more- we did get a lot of new technological advances since the Nomads showed up, but they still need to get the chinks worked out of them.
It looks a tad more like the idea of a Liberty Capship stern made tender love to the Luxury Yacht.
This model is very nice... But I don't feel that it's a step forward aesthetically from the current LABC. What are the weaknesses of the current LABC that you're hoping to address exactly?
Furthermore... Have you tested this new engine design against the Lib Dread engine? The primary "spout" looks like it's far too small. It would be unfortunate if you had to send it out the gate with four blob engines like the current LABC.
Unless you're going to create a custom engine for it.
there is nothing wrong with the current labc - it is a little low on details and texture details. - but other than that... there is absolutely no problem with it at all. - so unless a new model is totally convincingly better... there won t be a replace.
about the engine - no. the dreadnought engine simply cannot fit a cruiser. - it simply is way too large. - the cruiser impulse engine is too small ( thanks to vanilla making it four small ones instead of one medium sized )
this ship would make use of the liner engine rather than the impulse model. ( which is nothing but a large yellow ball )
Have you considered mucking with ALE files to craft a new engine? You could simply re-size it. This would also solve the minor issues with the current OLC
I'm with most people on this. The model looks great but the front doesn't look all that Liberty-ish. Hammer it a lil so it resembles the Dreadnought and it should look great.

Actually, I don't think you even need to muck with the ALEs, just the INIs. At least, that appears to be the way it works with weapon effects.
