I think a shieldbusting torpedo would work better, or at least with less complaints. And more explosions.

It would need to have a really big radius to make sure to blast all those caps good. I think calling it the Immolation Torpedo would fit with the Inferno name style.

Now THAT doesn't sound bad. But I like bombers just fine as they are. I don't want my SNAC nurfed so that someone gets an energy shield buster.

As I already mentioned Nova torp will do that in the future.

But not by using huge blast radius but due to actually fixing the capship shields.

Is anyone aware of the balance challenge an EMP SNAC would cause, Specifically in a dual torp Bomber?
As in, one shot two shot, red ship dead ship?

Just a thought.

You coulda read or quoted all I said, but I guess you like playing pretend better.

Dodging and shieldrunning when your shields are down is the easiest thing in the world.

You might have noticed that I asked for a snac nerf in the case of a EMP weapon being implemented.

Not like you want to understand but I'll explain it more slowly for you anyway:

fighter attacks bomber
Fighter starts winning because he doesnt let himself get hit by snac
bomber starts whining that the fighter never jousts him when his shields are down
Fighter kills bomber.
bomber had no chance in hell.
From now on, bomber runs and whines as soon as he sees a fighter.
Bomber takes gunboat form now on.
Bomber is sad
Fighter is sad

Right now, bombers have 0 chances of beating a fighter no matter what, if the fighter knows how to avoid snac shots while his shields are down.

If a EMP was introduced and the snac nerfed at the same time, in addition to the bomber guns being sped up a bit, it could be reballanced in a way that fighter/bomber fights were again possible.

If a snac hit kills fighter 100% of the time, fighter will give the bomber 0% chance to hit him, by shieldrunning. Which gives the bomber 0% chance of winning the fight. Shieldrunning can be taught to any noob with 2 sentences.

Would be nice have the outcome of fights depend more on skill again and less on jsut what ship you fly.

For those who have additional torp slot, this would be an option for bugged nova torp.



Ideas? suggestions, what you think. As I said, this won't have any impact on fighter x bomber fights.

Really, you do need the hullbuster power of the Snac for use against caps anyway, the 50% damage reduction against shields fails in comparison to the up to 400% addition of armour to many capital ships. The SNAC is really already a good all rounder anyway. Plus everyone would just go around pwning everything bigger then a bomber using Shieldbuster SNACs and regulars SNACs. Just my opinion.

While that does sound great, I was actually thinking a fully EMP torpedo. Kind of like a Paralyzer on steroids. If the shield thing is getting tweaked, then a large radius wouldn't be a requirement, though it could make for some interesting situations.

For instance, if it had a fairly short range (compared with the nova) but a big boom (or bzzt! rather) that could easily threaten the shield of the bomber if it wasn't smart. Or strip multiple caps if they were unnecessarily clustered.

First, I kill fighters all the time with bombers. Try full energy cannons.
Second, Gunboats are made to kill bombers.
Third, Skill is in there, it simply require uncoventional tactics.
