How about grey? Why does it have to be black and white?

It would take people all of about 2 days to figure out the new tag, if that.

Anyway, Wilde removed our tag not because of the ganking, but because it made it impossible to even -pretend- to be anything but **Nomguys** across system chat.
Yeah with all three of those factions, there are no indies. There is no need for a tag showing that this person with this ID is part of the official faction rather than an indie.
I got bored with the thread after these posts so that's as far as I read.
In case you don't get it, I don't agree with all factions being required to have a tag. Some need them, some shouldn't have them.

Read post #15.
I don't care much if you want to wear a tag or not - although I'd much rather have them.
Activity warnings should be issued to all factions, not just the ones wearing tags. And that means monitoring players individually from those certain shady factions, which currently cannot be done easily - or at all.
' Wrote:If you do not bear a tag, people do not know you are an official faction member. You are a member in order to showcase your faction's RP. If people do not know you are a member of your faction, what is the point of even enlisting? You are supposed to be providing an example, not hiding.
Since there's no Nomad, Wilde, SCRA or Phantom Indies, isn't it kind of redundant whether or not these factions bear a tag or not? It's not like anyones gonna confuse them. Because they are them.
Which is one of the reasons why the lane hackers don't want to use tags. They don't want to distinguish themselves from others. We know who is who, the roster is public and up to date. Finding us requires work.
On the other hand, we are keeping tagged characters for special purposes - rookies, assassins, some capital ships and other specialties. The above system seems to be running just fine, and we get enough attention by committing crimes anyway. Which doesn't get any better, everyone gets a reputation for themselves, without prejudice.
Either way, our faction leader will most likely disagree with transforming from "elitist snobs" to "elitist snobs with tags".
I think there are upsides to flying untagged characters. If factions need to fly tagged and have time on them as well, that's okay. But forcing all official faction players (or those with non-special IDs) to fly tagged ships does not sound like a good idea to me.

I'm going to go right ahead and point out the fact that occasionally, they are not them. Rules get broken, some more interestingly than others.
But I find the arguments for why the wilde, nomad, phantom, and SCRA factions should get extra rights rather boring. They're special, or they're not, but that's simply a different discussion.
The fact of the matter is, people will only know for bloody sure you're a them if they're inside of, what, the 10k it takes for IFF to show up, without a faction tag. If you've any interest in showcasing RP, I'm going to assume you want more coverage than that...Blue messages cover an entire system, and the red all of Sirius.
