Rejoinders to that: The mining people also have access to changes in the economy, and have circumvented Xoria in the past.
Every time Xoria creates any serious update to the economy, I find at least two excellent power trading routes in a five minute search of flc, which have to be deleted via flhook, after an insane feeding frenzy. That's nothing but negligence.
He's put a monstrous amount of work into it because he's approaching what should be a many hands project with one set.
He's welcome to turn down anything we produce, the converse of which is: We're welcome to produce anything he might turn down.
And, now that I've got myself good and lathered up: Does he play the game?

You can make anything you want for the economy. It wont be implemented without Xoria's ok. Mining is different because its not trade. You can dislike the work Xoria does all you want. Doesnt change the situation one little bit. Xoria is in charge of the trade, nothing this large will be implemented without his approval.
And Uns, yes Xoria plays the game, but on that note, at what point did you start playing the game again to the level where you throw that at other people? But hey, whatever, you go do the work, if past experience is any clue, you will have left disco again before you get it more than three quarters done. So yea, go ahead, with you at the helm, I have no doubt this will never get to the stage where it could ever be implemented anyway.
Xoria is in charge of the trade, fair enough. If we get volunteers and a package together, and if I put in my spare time to learning how to code the commodities I'll help out too. Once we get a package together with some backstory behind it, one of the team (if it works) will submit it and pray for a reply, approval or not.
If its not approved, hopefully we can have feedback as to why, and go back and try again.
I'm just hoping that the community can have some input in the mod and actually contribute to the game itself as well as play it. But for now, lets get this off the ground before anything major happens.
Think it could be possible to have one such mini events each 24 hours (Server Restarts)? (As an example, Day 1- Manhattan, Water, next server restart, Leeds, Scrap Metal, and so on with every restart.) The only tip would be a short preset news in the House involved or something.
I think it would be a cool way to promote independent traders with treasure hunts of limited period broken routes. It'd be the same thing as code hunting, really.

Xoria controls the economy.
No changes will be made that he does not specifically approve of.
He has put a ton of work into balancing the trade system and we dont want to see the return of power trading routes that he has worked so hard to remove from the game.
I see this, and raise you the "Gold Rush" Argument. You know what it is about. A Powerful and temporary run is completely in nature, and could even be used to temporarily inject life into areas which are not visited, like Kusari, say. I know the powertrader argument, but hey, they'll trade through an OP run if you give them an OP run, but it also invites Pirates, pirates invite Police, Police invite Unlawfuls. good cycle.
Of course, we dont want 2 minute runs making 50 million >.>, but if the community is willing to work on a dynamic economy, then any powerful routes that come up will not stick around that long anyway, just long enough to show a dynamic economy and shifts in trader-miner activity.
