USS Oklahoma (BB-37), the only ship of the United States Navy to ever be named for the 46th state, was a World War I-era battleship and the second of two ships in her class; her sister ship was Nevada. She, along with Nevada, were the first two U.S. warships to use oil fuel instead of coal.[6]
Commissioned in 1916, Oklahoma served in World War I as a member of BatDiv 6,[4] protecting Allied convoys on their way across the Atlantic. After years of spending time in the Pacific and the Scouting Fleets, Oklahoma was modernized from 1927 to 1929. She rescued American citizens and refugees from the Spanish Civil War in 1936; after returning to the West coast in August of that year, she spent the rest of her life in the Pacific. She was sunk by Japanese bombs and torpedoes on 7 December 1941, in the attack on Pearl Harbor, taking 429 of her crew with her as she capsized.
She was uprighted in 1943, but unlike most of the other battleships damaged in the Pearl Harbor attack, she was never repaired and returned to duty. Instead, Oklahoma was stripped of her guns and superstructure, and sold for scrap. She sank while under tow to the mainland in 1947.
should i look for more?
' Wrote:Also, those frigates don't protect 2 miners, but entire shipping routes which means thousands of ships every day
and furthermore, in the theater, destroyers were the most used escort for their anti-sub weaponry. and even for this rule, destroyers cant protect against them.
This argument is more aimed at pirates using transports to pirate. I mean you never see the LN or the RM using transports in conflict but some pirates use trasports since they know that the most powerful of ships in the military's can't touch them.
Instead of the realistic aproach of "I won't pirate them it'd be suicide with that battleship there" its more "I will pirate them because that ship can't touch me! and it'll take a while for him to get assistance!".
Which doesn't really make sense if you ask me. Its the equivalent of mugging someone next to a SWAT water cannon just because "Its too powerful it won't touch me!". In real life the driver of that truck won't be sitting there thinking "Dam I can't do anything!" The mugger would be getting a soaking.
So I spose the best way to sort this is to instead of unblocking the "Cannot attack transports in a Cruiser +". Add something like "Pirates in transports cannot make demands. If they wish to pirate they should get a fighter/bomber/gunboat to help."
Well said, too bad i didnt think of that 2 pages ago lol

Yes you should, what you said does not deny my statement. She was not assigned to a single trader/miner, instead she had to patrol the entire north Atlantic which, again, means thousands of ships. I think the Essex fills that role in Dublin, backed up by the Hood.
[About the George H.W. BUSH] As a result, the ship's cost was US$6.2 billion, higher than that of the earlier Nimitz-class ships which each cost around US$4.5 billion
In order to refuel their nuclear power plants, the carriers each undergo a Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) once in their service lives. [...] The RCOH for USS Theodore Roosevelt, which began in 2009, will reportedly cost US$ 2.4 billion.
But all this, is only relevant from a RP point of view. Disco already has too many caps. If that rule would be removed we'll see every miner with his own cap escorts and that would be a disaster.
@ AshHill07:
No. If anything, cargo piracy should be encouraged, not nerf'd.

How about "I wont shoot a transport in a battleship so I can go on power-mining for 4 more hours, that is simply dumb. I'll go get a snub or gunboat and have some fun in the process" ?

It might even add a bit more teamwork to pirates.
Should we say the same for lawful caps? Lawfuls in caps cannot make demands?
Even now days pirate pirate for cargo such as 'diamonds', 'collector's possessions'.
Even so, it is the most realistic for a pirate to travel in a Pirate Transport or Freighter. Or even frigates.
Yes, it is unrealistic for pirates to approach a trader when he has a Battleship beside it, but oh wait, is it realistic to have a battleship beside it?
Hmm.. I wonder.
And your statement of pirate transports can't make demands?
erm, I don't know where you got that from... But Pirate Transports are one of the easiest pirate types of escape from or defended from.
I don't know why you don't want 'em to make demands, maybe cause they have the ability to 'actually' pirate your ore? Therefore which is more credit loss than making a demand? Which is why you were angry, therefore making the decision that Pirates can't pirate from a transport.
The entire concept is laughable, really.

Tried that. They've always left by the time I get my fighter/bomber there. Then I've wasted my time flying out to an area where the pirate has already fled and find myself having to fly back to where I started. Also if I am sitting there in a fighter they get to about 12k range and then vannish.
The thing is that heavy fire power isen't the deterrent it should be. Some people arn't even affraid to pirate outside lawful bases anymore.
' Wrote:Should we say the same for lawful caps? Lawfuls in caps cannot make demands?
As far as I'm aware lawfuls in caps cannot make demands anyway ... unless its for same faction pilots. And how often does that happen these days?
In my opinion there are way too many caps on both side , but especially on the lawfull side.
this rule encourages lawfulls to fly a snub ,
and thats good.
It's not always about you. It's not about how you were pissed/angry/mad/frustrated, therefore the rules should be changed. It's about the overall balance that provides a fairness/realism within the player environment.
You couldn't find a pirate transport on your bomber cause they ran away? Well duh, why wouldn't they? Why would they wait there for you to blow 'em up?
