' Wrote:Well, thanks for the information, I never had that type of ship before. However I trying to find a trader ship for fight against pirates. I had a lot of pirate chars before, and I would like to try the other side. I have transport to make money already, so at this time I would like to trade/fight for fun and RP purposes.
' Wrote:Thats really funny man, you mean you wont pay the bombers if your cargo worth more than 40-45 mils? I will.
But main problem is pirate with a ptrans, we need those ships to face ptranses! Its clear that no one get no chance agains a bomber. A ship that can kill a Bs, might be able to kill simple traders, right? Fighting a bomber in any transport is a Big No No!
Btrans kill bombers well. Just do not sit still. Thrust towards safety, while firing all turrets at Bomber. Straff when he fires SNAC. pretty simple, I almost always land/kill bomber/Bomber runs off hurting. But all still depends on skill of both parties.
' Wrote:Don't do what most battratransport-captains I met do, and think you are invincible. You still have that transport shield, and a full-kraken sabre takes that down with ease, leaving your hull (which isn't even that amazing) open.
I have never lost 1 on 1 Btrans vs fighter. If thrusting they pretty much need to stay in rear arc of Btrans at all times. When they come in for shots? they take fire from 12, 1K turrets.
' Wrote:I need to test vs the new 2 types but the other 2 are quite beatable without problem with P transp.
All the Fat Btrans pretty much same turret arcs/hitbox. I got all 3. Never tried the Lib yet. So just depends on your ID, and where you want to trade.

Btw....if bomber cant hit you from back...he will try it from side(biger profile less chance to avoid)
But...if i have to say....this is better than BT.
i have one of these allmost half year and noone has CDted me ....never..and i get pirated 3-4times per day.
TCD, Reinforced.......nothing can stop it cruising. Of Course...it cant defend himself.
That train is KOS in Liberty to all Indie/lolwut navy/police. Official's will make you dump cargo, pay fine and leave. But dam it is hard to CD, but not impossible. I used to use it in Hostile systems against NPCs in 4.85. Now no need since no CDs on all but Guards.
Against most GBs and Ptrans the Btrans with same armour Upgrades will kill them easy. Just do not sit and fire. They will usually joust, so joust back. Head to head the Btrans has more firepower/armour/bots/bats
In my experience, Battletransports are only useful when used in groups. Bot-sharing and fire support make them effective at keeping the cargo safe against the loner pirate.
Anyway, they are more fun to fly as they at least give you a choice of how to do: fly or fight, where it normally is: run only.
But do not expect your chances to be good, really. They are better than in 5k transports, but still not good.
and what about the galliaBT, is that thing any good?
Gallic battletrans Has 9 turrets afaik, 6 of em facing forward, Nice armor. 3000 cargo.
But instead this ship is very tiny. It can easily dodge farther snacs.. I can compare it's size to Percheron.

True I havent actually killed one of the new ones either, but made a couple of them run crying to mommy just when they thought they'd be the ones smoking me. One guy was even taunting me, daring me to engage him - he went strangely quiet when I had chewed through half his hull:-) Had I not been in House space with plenty of lawful bases around, I would have had time to kill it, but it requires a lot of patience. As someone else said though, if you are a lone pirate against 2 or 3 btrans, you will have your hands full.
There is a major advantage in having spent most of your time in a transport when you are on the pirating side, because you will know how to take advantage of blind spots and the limitations of turret view. A constantly moving sabre can be really difficult to hit.
But don't make the mistake of thinking you won't be running. Because at some point, you will. Or you could just pay and get back to trading:-)
What is so special about that? I have done that plenty of times, and I have also run from a lot of fighters in my transport. Even got killed a few times by a lone fighter. Using Krakens and no pulses it doesnt take more than 20-40 seconds to take down the big transport shield and from then on the krakens rock. It takes time, but it is far from impossible.
Edit: There is really only 1 thing to do if you want to avoid getting pirated: Make a junker trader and make sure to play nice towards everybody, criminals included:-)
That's what I was wondering. You made it look like it was an achievement.

That's all nice but I know from experience that against any properly armored transports a solo fighter will come out short-handed and that's what battletransports are about.
