it will be a bigger target anyways if it uses the nephthys hitbox, the visible model will just be smaller.
And really, I dont think it should be required to joust in order to be effective, it needs high turning speed to avoid fire. No good VHF pilot ever jousts anyways, it's too dangerous - chances are your opponent has a mini razor or supernova or nuke mines waiting for you in a head on run.
You know, you can stretch and shrink the hitboxes.... Specifically, you can shrink the Nephyths hitbox so that the wings match up about right without having to change the model. You actually *can* change weapon/shield hardpoints, its been done with gunboats (some lost turrets in exchange for forward guns) so that's less of an issue.

from everything i've heard around here, removing or adding hardpoints forces a character wipe because it interferes with the equipment already in use by players who fly whatever ship you're modifying.
It's probably best if we keep the weapon and equipment hardpoints the same as they are now, and just change the agility/hull strength to balance the ship.

We need Igiss to clarify this, according to the readme there was no problem when people had to unmount turrets from 4.83 on their gunboats. Its really easy to do if everyone gets auto-docked when the new mod version comes out... just don't undock with the new (invalid) setup and its all good. Alternatively, it might be possible to rig up something that unequips all weapons, thrusters and shields from all ships and do it that way.

I remember Liners used to be able to mount GB turrets, but the hardpoints were changed back to transport turrets because of abuse. and that didn't need a playerwipe. I like the model, I mean he current one dosn't even look like it comes from FL. Like I and other people said before though, it will get whored.
well - thats just a change in the .ini .... same with removing a hardpoint from the ini.
for example - the liberty carrier has 20 turret hardpoints. - only 16 are in use cuase 16 is our max. .... the hardpoints have not changed.. so we could do 20 turrets without a wipe.
however, the zoner juggernaut only has 16 hardpoints attached. - so adding 4 more to get 20, too would cause a wipe, cause the model would change, not the ini.
The current Talon is actually an Import of EDI from the movie Stealth. So yea, it should be replaced.

This Talon looks great, I mean this new LF proposed talon... If it's small enough, compared to Neph, and uses the resized hitbox, then it would be great. Good lookin LF, it surtenly is styled to look the part. The talon does have quite diffrent loadout to a LF, thou but does it require a playerwipe?
