People team up to kill factions and players will to play by trolling them.
I was one of the faction leaders that was trolled to death, that is why I don't want to give more time to this game, where people enjoy trolling more then playing.
In that case, what keeps you here?
It isnt you, trust me.
Some friends that are not frustrated like the most.
1. The stupid removal of torpedoes and missiles and the changes of the missiles.
2. Also the stupid changes to the fighter equipment and load-outs.
3. Almost all my friends stopped playing years ago. Just 2 are still playing rarely.
4. Bad behavior and a lot of hate among the so called " community ".
I log in when I have time to fly a bit just for the sake of flying in Freelancer.

There you go, trollers triggered.
TheMadOne why hiding behind an alt?
sasapinjic i don't really want to spend words on you...
Thunderer still trying to become somebody in this game? How to put this... Nobody cares about you boy? ye good enough.
Now when i put those trollers where they belong and they need that because with this community this small, suddenly every mouse feels big.
For those who know what did you do from the start till now, knows the real you, so keep trying, but don't think you can say something about someone coz ya know, karma is bitch.
Now the question in this thread:
I keep playing because this game is good and to spend some free time with some friends in game who's still playing.
Sometimes i need a break from this game and i vanish for 6+ months then i come back and that was happening from 2012 till now.
From the golden time 4.85 till now many things changed, but this game is and always be the same.
We are loosing players because more new and free games are made and this game have one problem and ofc non of you new guys don't know what it is and how to solve it, because you are too young to understand how things works now.
Older players kept this game up and running and when they left, game started dying.
If they could do it, why can't you?
I found a better, healthier, more engaging and positive roleplay community.
I miss the Discovery setting and the PvP mechanics, but neither of those can come even close to outweighing the problems this community has at its core. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone left playing really gives enough of a shit about actually solving that malaise, being content enough to either stick entirely to their cliques or somehow kid themselves that it's worth it to keep pouring the time in. I was like that myself for far too long, but it only took a few days of trying this certain other community out to realise I'd found something much, much more wholesome and rewarding to participate in and play.

One of the reasons I'm here now is because they're gone, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let years of hard work and dedication go to waste because of it. I'm struggling to convince people who suffered through the same proverbial ***** to return to the community.
Have to agree, some of the most terrible things about this game is the fact that so many seem to only enjoy going out of the way to destroy anything and everything they do not like, agree with, or understand. Guess it is just human nature for so many to be destructive. Read through so many forum posts over the years, where many things that have killed the community is the community it's self. When i got fed up with things back in 2015 and deleted my assets, well i kept an eye on the forums just to see if anything had improved. Well for the most part that has been a no. Even watched many of the hateful troll like or destructive members who used to work together to make others have a bad day, well once the population dropped they seem to start going after each other too. I seen it coming and was one of the reasons many have left. Seen so many players harassed to the point of leaving the game, either a faction others did not like, player bases that some tried to build many times but always ended up destroyed cause of mainly some members of the community did not like them and enjoyed doing anything they could do destroy what they were trying to do. So in turn they cause the player to give up, uninstall and go find something else to play. I have heard many excuses over the years of why the game is dying, people just move on, or "it is this XXX time of the year and people are busy/vacation/have no time" Which yes sometimes some of the time it was true for a few people. But in my opinion the major part of why many people do not play was the community it's self. I am sure more will argue that it is something else, but i know of at least 40 people who have quit the game for good just cause they got tired of the drama, and other crap. Yea i heard a lot of "Oh they are just too sensitive, or need to practice" Or the typical trollish responses of "Get gud" "It's a pvp server". Well I myself used to enjoy some pvp, but was not the only reason i logged in like so many left seem to only want. I enjoyed the traded and exporing with friends, loved the fact that 4 of us banded together and built The Junkyard. Which was no easy task being junkers and seemingly one of the most hated factions in the game. No was not congress when we built it, so it was not a congress hate. Many for some reason hated some factions to the point it seemed oorp, and not an rp thing. Example i have seen so many #REMOVEZONERS #REMOVEJUNKERS, and so many other hateful comments on different aspects of this game. POBs for example, many have hated player bases (Which is something that many players loved about this game, was making their own base and guess what it takes hauling stuff to build!), wanted them removed from the game completely, blame lag they had for pvp on bases in game etc. Well i never had an issue with lag myself, and yea too many have this "I am better than you cause i am awesome at pvp attitude" compared to the true Rp part of the community. And traders with all the years of stupid higher demands from pirates, or the "roleplay" of being a complete jerk that we all know is just to try and anger another player to get them to fight and lose. But they give the excuse of "That is my character's RP" Well there is a fine line in that, yea a pirate does not need to be nice and i am not saying they do. But some people push the limits of being a "jerk pirate" to the limits they can without being sanctioned. Anyways i have said my piece, just how i see things of why some of the community i know have given up on this wonderful game. I could be wrong on some points, but i do feel the ones who get enjoyment out of making a bad day for others are a large part to blame of why many no longer have the desire to log in anymore.
1) I've been playing Freelancer online since 2003. I want to do more than a 15 year old locked engine is capable of.
2) I play for a couple of weeks, then I go do something else for a couple of months. By the time I return, my ships are gone and I just can't be bothered with the time investment anymore.
3) I have seen everything, explored everything, traded everything and bought nearly every ship at some point. New content is released too slowly and there's too little of it to keep me interested.
4) I like flying around in new systems that have new art. There hasn't really been anything new to see in years; in fact stuff has disappeared.
5) There is no character progression other than more monies. What little ship equipment customisation that exists is not enough to keep it interesting.
6) There is a massive time investment gap between "regular" equipment and "special" equipment (jump drives, cloaks, etc) that just can't be bridged with casual play sessions, which is enormously off-putting. There should be something to make the curve less steep.
7) The drive to make each faction "unique" has in fact resulted in every faction being pretty much the same, which the same types of ships universally available with a different model/skin for "flavour". Every faction feels like every other faction and it has destroyed my enjoyment of the lore.
8) Roleplay seems to primarily happen on the forum and third party chat groups that I'm not a part of and have no way of knowing about. Roleplay is dead on the server unless you camp Planet Manhattan.
9) I like making flawed, throwaway characters with one or more screws loose in the head to brighten up people's roleplay, but the time investment needed to get the right ship and equipment for them just isn't worth it.
10) Since changes to Sirius to reflect evolving roleplay have to go through a long and boring submission process, there isn't really any motivation to even try to have an impact on server lore or build anything that can last. Server lore feels like it's something done by Other People in a Faraway Galaxy with very strict ideas about what's possible and what's not. I get more enjoyment out of just sketching system stuff on a piece of paper.
11) I don't even know what the point of factions is anymore. Most of them can do everything to the same degree without negative consequences, nor is there really any advantage to levelling up reputation with other factions beyond neutral/friendly other than not getting shot at. All for the sake of "balance".
12) The same applies to trading, which is just a case of everything going everywhere in the most nonsensical ways because of, again, perceived faction balance. And with every system essentially leading everywhere to the same degree, the structure of the Sirius sector is just gone, with there being no difference between being in core space or border world space or edge space. It's all the same thing, and I can go everywhere equally.
13) There's not really anything left to achieve, and whatever there is to do isn't very interesting because it's essentially just throwing credits at stuff.
