I am quite surprised that most of the members here have told you otherwise and proven that you are wrong and need to change your attitude, but you seem to ignore them.
I think that maybe, just maybe the community has mis read what SilverLeaf is saying. I think that we are taking his meaning as him saying he wants to buy a cap ship and fly around going wherever he wants and doing what he wants however, I think what he means is that he if he chooses to fly a faction's cap ship, like Liberty for example, then he doesn't want the LN player faction telling him what to do which I agree with as I don't think a player faction should be able to tell other players what to do unless they have actually joined that player faction.
So for example. Say I was flying a LN guard ID'd carrier I would obviousally follow surver and RP rules but I don't want no "admiral" from the [LN] faction telling me what to do.
Of course I could have read SilverLeaf's meaning wrong but I won't be able to tell without SilverLeaf reading this and telling me if I was right or wrong.
Learn to take a hint. Prove to us that 'Void' does not refer to something between your ears.
This is an RP server. We roleplay here. We follow rules.
Read them please. Read stories. Read bios, faction proposals that got accepted, message dumps, everything!

That's like saying that the captain of a naval vessel doesn't want to take orders from his higher ranking officer, or the secretary of defense.
Where's the logic in that?
If the head of the [LN] is RPing an Admiral (and rightly so), wouldn't it be, in-RP, in your best interests to follow his orders? Because in essence, that's why you're out in space, because you were -ordered- to do a patrol, or to defend Liberty, etc.

I actually happen to fly an LN Guard/Guard carrier. I also happen to obey:
-Server rules
-Faction rules
-Orders given by an [LN] player of higher rank than Darryl (Who is a Captain)
I don't give orders to [LN] ships either, but if they ask, I'm fine with suggesting courses of action.

They give RP presentation of the NPC faction they run and they do work hard enough not to be treated like you do right now.
Well...dude...would the US army sell you a tank and let you roll around manhattan streets on the bloody thing?
LOLOLOLZZZ FREELZNC LOLOLOLXZ
No, I do not think so.
An m1 tank just was sold to a civvy for 2 mil.
Well silver, if you want to play a cap, there is RP cannon you have to follow that is not given by a player faction but by the storyline of disco. Regardless if a LN wants you to do something or not, you have to have your actions be inline with your NPC faction. If not, wham! banhammer.
Like I suggested earlier. Get a gunboat, put around, get to know people and the forces you will fly with. Get in a few large battles and you may find yourself looking less at a BS and more at a bomber or GB. They look huge and tasty but they are just SNAC sponges that die first in every battle.
I have played for 2 years and the biggest ships I have are battlecruisers. BS are such a pain to fly and so hard to defend that you will start looking away from them pretty fast.
Indeed, that reminds me, really. Once a corsair dred is online, suddenly at least 4-6 bhg pop on along with 10 merc and freelancer bombers and they compete who gets the bounty.
Well first of all, I'm not going to do any out of rp stuff... so thats outta the question...
I just feel that capships should not be restricted by another PLAYER corp. Thats just plain unfair and mean.
However, I'm ok with the rule that you need a license etc from liberty navy, just NOT the player faction. The npc one is good, I can handle that.
I should not have to bow down to another player's whims and fancies just to
play some game.
I'm quite close to a cruiser or maybe battlecruiser right now so I must get this cleared first before i get that capship.

Well, this certainly is an interesting thread. I see Noobl3t up on his soapbox defending the rights of independent capital ships owners already, and everyone else seems to be arguing conflicting views over what seems to be one big misunderstanding.
So, lets get this set straight. Player Factions at present have no rights to restrict anyone carrying the correct ID parameters from buying any ship in the game. As long as you follow the NPC factions roleplay, respect your fellow Roleplayers and fairplay, as well as the Server Rules, you won't have any problems.
However, I'd recommend listening to some of the people here. They have a few wise words to say. Apart from your trader, how many other ships do you own right now? Have you experienced Discovery in a fighter yet? Or do you plan on jumping straight from Starflier to Battleship?
One last note, here on Discovery bigger does not mean better. Just because you have the biggest, baddest Dreadnought around, with the most expensive armour money can buy, it does not mean people will respect you, or even fear you. Your billion dollar capital ship will be brought to its' knees by three or four bombers, each costing less than 50 million a pop.
