The game itself..bought it when it first came out. As for disco..after doing mods with morrowind looked into mods for this game and found the discovery mod. Was only interested in the SP but tried out the server and yea.

I recived a CD with Freelancer from a friend. I played it in SP...first time it look good, 2nd time when i finish it..it's look more good, them I find a Multiplayer server(not discovery), it was amazing...i stardet it again in SP..and before some problems with that server i find discovery..from then i love that game
An old friend of mine told me about it while we were playing Battlezone 2(another great game), he sent it to me, and I logged around 30 hours of playing it within a week.
As for Discovery, I have always been a fan of role-playing games and some of the stuff on the forums looked like it was something I would like to be a part of, so I registered on this forum and began roleplaying as LSF, which was my favorite faction in vanilla FL. After about three weeks of being independent, someone suggested I apply for an official faction, and now I'm where I'm at now.
' Wrote:I have NO idea if there's already a thread like this, but I'm just a bit bored, and thought about how I got the game.
So, I got this game on christmas, probably 2003, since it was released that day. My grandmother gave it too as a christmas present.
When I first saw the cover I thought "Hm, looks kinda strange..." , almost didn't like it.
But when I started playing the game, huh...I couldn't stop. And still to this day I would say it's the best game of its kind, which I've played. It has some things, which I missed from the beginning, but even though it's worth playing again and again.
So, how did you come to playing freelancer?
(I think I saw a thread like this some time or another...If there is another one, ... please don't kill meee Q_Q)
:P
A mate lent me Freelancer years ago and ever since then I haven't been able to stop playing...had breaks of course but the addictiveness of the game has never faded.
Saw the cover in K-mart way back in 2003, bought it there and then. Was too impatient to even bother reading the book, just installed it and started playing... and playing and playing... only thing that kept me from playing on-line was the lack of a decent internet cap.
Looked the game up on Wikipedia while looking for a sequel years later. Said there was a strong mod based following, so I looked up some mods and found this was the closest thing to a sequel to sp's storyline, so downloaded Discovery.. so here I am now.
A Person called Andocool
we started a Private Server, then there was a big fallout between me and him.
Haven't talked to him since, but i still play freelancer.
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.
I bought the game off the shelf in GAME back when it actually took up display space in a store. Played the storyline through, and again, and again. Went exploring the vanilla universe with my roommates (boarding school) then was the only one not to get permanently board. Later started looking for online servers, played briefly on RAW, bought a red engine for my Titan that I never PvPed with, saw different version numbers on the server screen, then did a bit of investigation. Been here since 4.80...
