I see. Anyway, OP forced me to log into DoD and check that ugly ship myself. :D
EDIT:
Oh...
Do OP take into account that Legate got something many other heavy battleships do not have?
I'm seriously considering to buy that ship, now.
[offtopic] Devs, Y u no give Valor and Turtle, as well as many other caps, Heavy hardpoints close to the center of the ship mass (on top) Q_Q
(It's not like you do not know why it's important. So why, at least 1? )
[/offtopic]
P.S. as for secondaries - I'd say it's on a very, very average level. It can almost use 2 more, on top and close to the center of the ship.
@Antoneus: Oh well, I'd really cry even louder...
I should have mentioned in the first post that I do suggest a redesigned Legate which should look like the Procurator concept in the submission forum. But I was told that there wont be any more new models.
I asked for more turrets because I simply thought that that may help the Legate to be more useful. (Corsairs already had a light Battleship, the other should be a really heavy and usable one). This seems to have made me a "whinner".
I disagree with your statement that all Corsair cap pilots lack skills. Not all, just because those you see are mainly lolwuts or common players, who can also be seen a lot in Hessian, Core, House fleets. Yet, they fly one of the worse ship in a battlefield with many disavantages as stated. So they can NOT be as good as you may expected.
I suggest redesigning the Legate, or trying to solve the "inbalance" happens in the Gamma raids. Or simply, put those battles somewhere else.
Oh, and I may suggest a way to solve the "raids" problem in Gamma: put a stationary (undockable) Legate in the orbit of Crete (and, a Ranseur in orbit of Malta). This makes sense, doesn't it? As House militaries have BSs proctecting their planets, Corsair and Outcast houses should have theirs, too.

But the raids never go near Crete; they stay near jumpholes where they can easily escape, particularly from battleships.
Not at all, and putting a battleship there would just encourage them to stay away even more. And then everyone hugs the battleship like Mississippi or the Rheinland equivalent.

You got to be kidding me.. Most of gamma raids by outcasts which I saw some time ago were ~5 or more ranseurs camping crete and shooting every 'sair that undocked. Nuff said.
As for legate, It's heavy BS so turret number is fine imo. Look at it's front profile, makes it easier to dodge mortars.

Not recently. At the moment, its usually Hessians, Hunters and Freelancers, none of whom are stupid enough to go that deep into open space, especially near Crete.
Outcasts are dead at the moment, especially since it takes them 5/10 minutes longer or something trivial to get to Gamma.

MSP got a huge safe zone, and is a whole different question.
All you need is a BS close to the Crete's orbit, so it wouldn't be possible to position whole fleet between it and Crete. Like Westfalen, for example. It's them who came to raid you, so they will search for a fight.
Also, so what if they stay away? just don't come to that cloud and them them come to you. Rheinland also has tons of asteroid fields, and turtles prefer not to follow hessians into these.
And we already had a thread about that one, although it's locked now.

Wrong. .FACE fanatics prefer to raid Crete's orbit, for example:P
