Please forgive the intrusion. Whilst I am aware that this channel is primarily for uniformed BPA officer personnel only, I must stress the urgency of this message. As arrogant as it may at first sound, I feel that the news I bring is a matter that must be made known to all branches of the BPA.
I am Detective Inspector Daniel Goldman, of the BPA's Non-Uniform Unit. For the past 3 weeks, I have been based undercover in Dublin aboard the Battleship Hood, under the alias 'Casino', and posing as one of Hood's hired security officers.
I was posted by the BPA NUU in such a system because of its current situation. As both myself and everyone connected to this channel are aware, Dublin usually falls out of our jurisdiction and into the hands of the BAF due to the high levels of piracy in the system. Our only protection lies with the Battleship Essex, and that's posted too close to the entrance of the system to be used as an actual Dublin outpost.
Yet as we all know, the Tau War is keeping our BAF forces heavily occupied, and with the current confusion relating to Dublin's actual authorities, piracy has increased ten-fold.
Whilst I have been working undercover, I have made several notes about the system. This may or may not already be known to you, but an addition to the facts can only help seal certainty.
The Mollys are using the lack of authority to toll and pirate the gold miners, both independant and BMM-affiliated. Miners are WILLING to surrender up to 10 million credits each to be allowed to mine ONE full cargo load, and will continue to pay the toll as long as they are mining there. This toll is directly funding Molly activities, and without protection, the miners have no choice but to surrender to the toll.
On top of the Mollys, a small assortment of indie-pirates are assisting the Molly's hold on the system in exchange for a cut of the pirated profits. The Mohican, The Apache and The Cherokee are three of the most well-known out of these indie-pirates, and are directly allied with the Mollys. The latter two were piloting Bombers, which I'm assuming are primarily used on the mining transports.
The lack of authority has attracted one of Bretonia's Most Wanted. The Joker's 'thugs' are commonly sited at Arranmore in Dublin, with only occasional appearances from their leader. Whilst I doubt that the Joker is masterminding the 'Dublin Takeover', his thugs appear to be under the employ of...you guessed it...the Mollys. If not a contract, it seems the thugs are willing to assist the Mollys with the assumption that they are going to be paid well for it afterwards. It is also possible however, that the Joker is using Arranmore as a recruitment centre. Several new thugs appear to be showing up, and I would wager that a handful of them are ex-Mollys.
Smugglers are using Dublin as a checkpoint to access a range of back-doors into Bretonia. Major systems include New London, Leeds and Edinburgh. In exchange for contraband commodities, firearms and other essential supplies, the Mollys allow them to shelter in Dublin.
As this report indicates, the Mollys are teaming up with external and independant forces. This is echoed in Cambridge which is now being subject to Corsair-Gaian team-raids according to a fellow NUU. Thus, it is apparent that the small-time Bretonian criminals that it is our duty to protect the Bretonian people against are now looking for help from more powerful, larger and more adequate groups. Add these to the current opposition in Leeds and it would appear that New London is, virtually, being held in a chokehold. If either of these three systems falls under the control of any of these unlawfuls, the capital will appear to be at great risk.
On top of this, I must report that I have been forced to abandon my post.
Last night, I barely escaped Dublin with my life. Attached is a copy of my own personal log entry, which may help not only indicate the level of opposition in the system, but also the danger the miners are currently in, the behaviour and tactical information regarding how the pirates fight as well as indication regarding other members involved - two mercenaries and a BAF lieutenant.
Quote:Standard daily procedure - I fly the Hood's racetrack to guise my presence in the system, and to monitor any pirate activity in the sector. Standard find - I noticed a duo of Mollys pirating the nearby miners. Moving in to investigate, I noticed one of them appeared to be piloting the "Werewolf" VHF, whilst the other flew a Pirate Transport, standard model. It appeared that the fighter was taking cuts of the miners' gold at regular intervals, with the Transport carrying the loot.
I'm an NUU. I am not equipped to use lethal force as my main duties are espionage and apprehension. Unless nearby authorities are present, I am not to begin a raid. I'm supposed to be a living CCTV camera. Watch and report, that's my job in two.
This was until the fighter picked me up on his scope. By the time I'd noticed his distance from me and tried to back out of cargo scan range, he'd already read my ship and picked up the BPA ID chip integrated into my Virage. (A legal requirement as you understand, as if I need back-up, reinforcements must be able to determine Friend and Foe quickly.)
Obviously, the guy quizzes me on it. I attempted to convince the fighter that I had paid a Lane-Hacker to tamper my ID chip so I could intercept BPA communications and sell the information collected aboard the Hood. Pretty convincing story, I thought. It's not as if it's that farfetched considering the crowd that gathers on that barge.
At first, I thought he'd bought the hook. Then, as soon as the transport called 'bollocks' and told the fighter to 'show the copper-in-disguise out', the fighter decided to open fire. Cover blown, I attempted to apprehend the fighter with the thought that I could call in back-up if needed. Whilst I was outnumbered, by luring the fighter away from the transport's heavy cannons, I remained in the engagement.
This continued for ten minutes, until this new group showed up at the scene. This group consisted of three Indie-Pirates (The Mohican, The Apache and The Cherokee), and two of the Joker's thugs.
I was now outnumbered 7 to frikkin' 1, and despite almost bringing the Molly I was in engagement with to justice, the group insisted that he pull out of the fight to stock up on more supplies. Yeah, I ain't kidding. Total waste of effort, that one was.
So the two Mollys pull out as the three Indirates join in. Should that be Pindies? Heh. Sounds more fitting...I digress. One of the Joker thugs took advantage of my 'occupation', and headed towards the miners. I sent a brief relay to Newbury to see if they could send me any reinforcements whilst trying to evade the barrage aimed at me. I have no idea whether they received it or not, for I received no reply back.
I waited for 5 minutes for a reply, before deciding that I couldn't rely on Bretonian authoritative force to get me out of the situation I was currently in. My only point of call was a duo of mercenaries - my old partners. My brothers, Matt and Axel. As soon as my signal reached them, they moved from the Border Worlds to assist me. It was a ditch-call, and I wasn't actually expecting them to break away from whatever it was they were doing to bail me out. I wasn't exactly holding my breath.
After another ten minutes of evading the hail of fire in my direction, and just trying to dent the hull of one of the fighters with my not-so-lethal weapons, the duo actually arrived and joined the brawl. Now with two partners, the fight evened slightly, despite the Molly fighter and the remaining Joker thug joining the engagement. 3 on 6 looked a lot better than 1 on 4 at the time.
We took down 'The Cherokee', a Roc bomber. And yet, before we could even bring out the bubbly, both Matt and Axel get tag-teamed and wiped out with a fleet of Sidewinders. They didn't even attempt to dodge the missiles. They learned from your lesson, Dad. They hit the eject and are now currently sheltered upon the Essex. Hopefully.
Almost out of mercy, the Joker thug backed out of the fight, inviting the others to finish me off. Already fighting now for 1 and a half hours, I was exhausted, space-sickness was setting in and with the retreatists only stocking up on supplies and then rejoining the fight, I had no hopes of victory. My morale was at an all-time low.
Despite the strikingly-obvious fact that I wasn't going to take down all of Dublin's pirates by myself, the primary reason I continued fighting was to keep as many of them as I could occupied for as long as possible. If the pirates had their hands full of Goldman, they wouldn't be able to get their hands on any Miner's Gold. Thus, as long as I kept them in engagement, the miners would be relatively safe and would be able to mine 1-2 holds of gold before leaving the system.
An emergency distress beacon - I'm guessing from Axel's pod - alerted a BAF lieutenant in one of the neighbouring systems to the situation. A bit of confusion ensued as Lt. Blair struggled to identify friend and foe. This could well be the only reason I'm glad the Virage is BPA-chipped. Within seconds, they quickly leapt to my aid, and whilst we were successful in taking down 'The Apache', a Falcata bomber, the unfortunate lieutenant was gunned down by the two remaining pirates. I couldn't help but feel destroyed. Someone had actually answered my pleas for back-up and almost instantly they were snatched away from me. Once a bleedin' gain, I was fighting solo, on my own, outnumbered and outgunned.
And as if things couldn't get worse, the frikkin' Mollys returned. Mohican, whom I'd been concentrating my attack on, switched with the fighter Molly once more to stock up on supplies. 2 hours of fighting, I was fresh out of missiles and mines. The scraps of nanobots I was snatching from the wreakage of the nearby Corsair rookies that the retreatists were shooting down were the only thing keeping my Virage in one piece, well, despite her awe-inspiring agility. I'm not kidding, she might not throw the most impressive punches, but ask her to dance, and she'll spin circles around anything you ask her to.
Still, when a girl slaps you till your hull's blooming red, it's gonna sting. Ten minutes, and this time, the Mollys retreated for good. The fighter looked like it was about to burst into flames and the transport just had no chance of landing a successful hit on my ship. Mohican returned to engage me along with the single remaining Joker thug and believe me when I say this, but I fought those two until I couldn't take any more. I had no hope of back-up, my supplies were diminished, I'd been fighting now for three hours straight, with no food, no water, nothing. Space-motion sickness had destroyed my head, melted my mind to mush. The constant impact of particle flak on my hull had rattled the ship so much that an internal blood vessel or something, whatever the doc said, burst from the pressure. I was now coughing up blood, suffering from whiplash all over my body, heavily exhausted and death was trying to snatch my ship from her flight.
With only 2 miners remaining in the system, and stuck in a stalemate with the two remaining fighters, I felt it necessary to cease the fight. I had forced 4 out of the 7 pirates to withdraw from the system, either by damaging their ships substantially, or destroying them all together. I had no idea where the Joker thug that ran off at the beginning of the fight was; there were no miner casualties while I was present in the system so it was unclear as to whether the Joker thug was collecting tolls or had left the system entirely. The other two were fighters, and thus, whilst they still posed a threat to me, they would have a rough time taking down a transport.
With this in mind, I stopped firing. I was happy that I'd lasted three hours against unthinkable odds, constantly outnumbered with nothing more than a water pistol to try and defend myself with. I'd done as much as I could. And yet, with two fighters on my tail, I knew that if I attempted to flee, they would simply fire a barrage of missiles and take me down. I had no more counter-measures. No nanobots. No batteries. I'd been worn out entirely, both in terms of ammunition, and my physical self.
I was almost expecting a 'game over'. Hell, I didn't even know what to expect. My survival was practically in my enemy's hands. I thought the obvious - they were going to gun me down and set my death as an example. And yet, I have no idea why, but they let me survive. When I stopped firing, they stopped too. It was as if we were all bored of fighting this stalemate, and just decided to call it a draw. They just cut their engines, and allowed me to escape through one of the jump holes I had monitored a Molly using during my operation. Whether out of impression, mercy or just exhaustion themselves, the pirates let a known undercover cop get out of Dublin with his life. I don't know much about the NUU...but I hope that's worth something.
I must apologise, but Dublin's a no-go zone for me now so I will be unable to remain operating in the system. The Mollys are now aware of my identity, and with the requirement of a BPA ID tag, I cannot remain undercover with so many pirates roaming the system. It'd only take one to scan my chip, and if they did call me out again, I'd have serious doubts about my survival, if this incident is anything to go by.
At present, I'm stuck in a Cryer Intensive Care Facility on Cambridge. Chief's ordered me to have a check-over to be on the safe side. Good thing too, I guess. A few internal problems, but they were addressed almost as soon as I was admitted into the hospital. The doc says I should make a recovery, and hopefully, will be out in a day or two though I gotta undergo some final operation or other first. Ironic as it is that 'Casino' was my alias, Lady Luck sure was on my side this time.
I've been told by my Chief to send this report to the highest level, thus, it comes addressed to you. Whilst I apologise for the lack of visual aid, my ship's on-board camera was destroyed in the brawl and thus, all the pictures I took have been rendered unusable.
Regards,
Detective Inspector Daniel Goldman, BPA Non-Uniform Unit
P.S. One of the nearby miners transferred 2 million credits to my personal credit account as I was engaged in the fight. He said he was so happy to see someone come to the miners' aid for once, and even spent a good deal of time looking through the neighbouring systems in an attempt to summon help. As I feel it is only right, may I request you instruct me whom to send this donation to, particularly if the BPA has an armoury fund that this can be contributed to.

With the shock resignation of Douglas Palmer the BPA have been forced to restructure in a very small amount of time in order to maintain peak efficiency.
If any person thinks that this will slow us down they will get a nasty surprise.
We already (due to newly aquired intel) are planning the final part of an insurgance into the Dublin system to drive back the Molly Republic and asociated pirates. We also aim to crush any ilegal Samura employed miners in the system.
This should make scum think more than twice before entering the system.
Operation 'Rock Polish' as it has been called will implement much heavier patrols of the system by BPA personell.
An application will be made shortly for the order of a number of heavier ships for the Police Authority.
We hope to maintain a stronger Special Response Division task force and possibly purchase a few gunboats to patrol the wilder systems and scare off any unwanted types.
This marks the start of a new, improved Police Authority and the Command staff and myself are confident of much greater results then previously.

It is with great regret that I learned of Mr Palmers resignation, but I hope the BPA can struggle through. Today marked the (hopefully) final repairs to my ship, which, alongside a mountain of paperwork, has kept me pinned to the ground for some time. I undocked from Planet Leeds and scanned the three traders who were passing through. All of them checked out fine, and were fully cooperative. I was about to leave, intending to patroll a loop through bretonia, when a veritable tidal wave of Kusari Chimaeras appeared. I engaged them, hoping to outmanouver them, when a Battleship patroll showed up and began firing its cannons at the KNF. I was initially glad of their support, and I destroyed three of the Kusari scum. The Battleship then opened fire on a Kusari who happened to be between me and him, missed, and I was hit by a battleship pulse blast followed by a tachyon slug from one of the destroyers accompanying the Battleship. Greviously wounded, and with one of my ships tail fins blown off, I limped back to the Leeds docking ring. The BAF continued to fire, and succeeded in destroying exactly two fighters before leaving. Needless to say, the fight would have been much more succesful had the BAF left well enough alone. My ship is has just finished having a complete rework and three different holes in the hull plugged and covered. Fortunately, the repairs can all be fixed with new hull plates, so I should be off the ground again tomorrow.

A rather interesting patrol today. I was heading to the Manchester from Durham Border Station on request of the BAF who were having dificulty with a trader when I encountered a Gallic train full of Cardimine.
I halted "The.Nautilus" just outside of the New London -> Leeds Jumpgate.
On confrontation the ship dropped its load of Cardimine and I destroyed it promptly. I then administered a fine of two million credits which the Captain paid.
I warned him the consequences would be far more severe should he attempt to smuggle again.
I then proceeded to Birmingham Station in Manchester, scanning and quizzing the traders I encountered along the way.
At Birmingham a Mastadon Captain had moored at the station in order to escape from the BAF Commander Goodmen. After what felt like a decade that only consisted of compromizing and clashing points of view from the BAF and the Ageira pilot.
Goodmen claimed that the pilot had a Liberty Navy escort that opened fire on him when asked to leave Bretonia space. The captain of the 'Sovreign' accused Goodmen of attacking him without provocation and stated that the escort was not intentional, he had just been followed.
Goodmen then began to rant about the Sovreign needing to pay a fine for disrupting a tradelane in order to evade him.
I pointed out to the Ageira Captain that disrupting traffic flow is a crime under the Bretonian Charter of Interstellar Law. I as willing however to reduce the fine as there may have been some error on Goodmens' part.
Goodmen however increasingly continued to state that he had control over the situation when it is well accepted that BPA pilots have Jurisdiction over matters such as that.
I was very frustrated at the actions of the BAF Commander but eventually the Ageira pilot paid the fine under the condidtion he was escorted to Magellan.
Two of the other BAF pilots were given this detail and I progressed back into New London just in time to spy a Corsair Gunboat heading into Manchester.
The Gunboat, 'Aztec.Flame' had a number of Police, Civilian and Armed Forces pilots in the hold. I radioed the BAF for support which arrived quickly.
Goodmen again tried to assume control of the situation ilegaly despite the threat of Courtmarshall. I ordered the pilots to be released and the Gunboat complied.
I was just about to give the Gunboat his ultimatum and remove him from our space without conflict when Goodmen gave an ilegal order to his lackeys. He told them to fire. I ordered the BAF to cease fire but Goodmen told them to ignore me.
The gunboat naturaly opened fire in response but was eventually destroyed.
The crew were extracted by a Corsair patrol called in for backup evidently and I wouldn't be surprized to see the Corsair Captain back again shortly.
Thoroughly disgusted with Goodmen's lack of respect for the BPA and the chain of command I will now have to raise the matter with his superiors.
The BAF should recognize the command of BPA officers in systems other then Leeds and not set out to aimlessly kill or harass people in the way they did today
Infact one of their number complained about their Commanding Officers conduct.
Commander Goodmen's conduct after I accosted him for the second time left little to be desired and I have no regrets in making a formal complaint to the Admiralty of the Bretonian Armed Forces.

I took a patrol today with our newest uniformed member Junior Constable Daniel Goldman. I must say he performed admirably.
We checked out a trader in Edinburgh after he deftly avoided a Kusari Naval Forces kamikaze run. I will let Mr Goldman provide the rest of the report however I was shocked at the number of Molly Gunboats we encountered on our patrol.
An audience was requested of me in New London by an enigmatic source by the callsign of 'Natasha'. After being attacked and waylaid numerous times by Mollys I eventually reached this 'Natasha'.
It turns out all she wanted was to ask if I could do anything about Goodmens' rash and hooliganish actions over the past few weeks, apparently she was attacked without provocation aswell.
I assured her that all would be fixed and sent a formal complaint to the BAF Admiralty.

Sure is surreal to be rollin' through Bretonia in an official BPA PC uniform, I've gotta say. I haven't flown in a Hussar since I was in single digits, so stepping back in the lil' fighter's cockpit's also gonna take a bit of getting used to. Still, it's light, it's agile. Doesn't quite pack the punch, nor can it take a decent one, but I have no desire to get back into a situation where I'll be stretching both my ship's and my own limits any time soon.
Anyways, enough smalltalk. The report.
First point of call was Leeds. Besides a small squad of Molly fighters slowing us down, getting into Leeds from New London was rather uneventful. We took the lanes down to the capital of the system, and whilst we bumped into a league of Kusarian insurgents, the BAF were quick enough to counter the assault backed up with the assistance of the Battleship Derby. With little need to get involved, both myself and Commander Silsbury took route to Edinburgh.
Before we could enter the system though, another band of Mollys took us on. This time though, they were accompanied by a gunboat, and whilst they managed to seperate myself from the commander, the Hussar was too agile for them to get a good fix. Taking evasive, we managed to loss 'em, and took the jump gate into Edinburgh.
We suspected that a trader in the system, under the callsign "Loose", was carrying contraband to the specific description of "Gaian Wildlife". We caught him on the return flight back to Leeds, but without the suspected cargo; he was only carrying a fair hundred VIPs. By the time we had managed to hail him to answer a few questions, he was out of the system.
We didn't want to backtrack, so headed through a jump hole to Dublin.
It was quiet. Seriously quiet. I've never returned to Dublin since the incident, and seeing the place so empty gave me the chills. We encountered one lone vessel; a BAF ensign. With nothing for any party to report, we split, and headed on back to New London after the Commander informed me of a new checkpoint in our patrol. She had been summoned by a Bretonian civilian, and was to rendezvous with them near the capital. Thus, we headed back using another jumphole, and came out in the north-west asteroid field.
Another band of Mollys were literally waiting for us on the other side, yet again joined by a gunboat. Both Hussars got out of the confrontation with little more than scratches and yet we now more puzzled than ever as to why these Mollys were appearing so frequently through our patrol - with gunboats no less.
We reached the rendezvous point. I stayed my distance to monitor the trade lanes whilst the Commander talked with 'Natasha' - the Bretonian who'd called the meeting.
I've met Natasha before. An independant 'pirate', frequently appearing in Dublin during my operation there. Never caught her committing any illegal actions, but her reputation with the Mollys and the other Indirates can't help but create clouds in my judgement of her. She was the one who called the bounty on the BAF Commander Austin Goodmen less than a week ago, to great distaste of the BAF. She accused the militant of opening fire on the woman without warning, amongst other things, and if you believed everything you read, you'd think Goodmen was some sort of masochistic patriach. Yet, this is the same fellow Commander Silsbury's reported to have been having problems with in terms of his trigger-happy attitude. Not being rude or anything, but if we weren't around to keep 'em in check, I swear Bretonia would be little more than a war zone now.
I digress, and I shouldn't be slandering the BAF so loosely. They're doing a good job on the Bretonian borders. Thanks to them, we're not all falling to our knees for the Kusari emperor. That's all well and good, but, I'd just prefer them to stick to doing that, and let the BPA get on with their own call. Bretonia's a mess as it is, let alone having the authorities at each-other's throats too.
Anyways. The BAF aren't my concern at the minute.
I just can't help thinking about the Molly forces we encountered. Especially with the level of firepower the majority of the squads had brought along with them and how frequently we encountered them along our patrol. Gunboats were the absolute wrong choice if they'd intended to take some Hussars down...but what about a Virage VHF? The Mollys and I both know I can fight their fighters and bombers...I'd struggle with a gunboat though, no doubt. I'd prefer to think of it as simple coincidence and yet, the dark devil on my shoulder continues to remind me that I'm a wanted man in Dublin, and with the info I obtained during my assignment in Dublin, it'd be no surprise if they were hunting me down to silence me.
*sigh* First day, eh? *chuckle* I can't wait to get my hands dirty for real.

Well I can say I must be getting graveyard shifts compared to everyone else. About 12 hours ago I put In a couple of hours of patrolling and all I go was a constant stream of traders floating in and out of Dublin and New London. BMM must be stockpiling huge amounts of ore the number of miners they have arriving daily. Also I saw a Gateway) Vessel something I hadn't see for quite sometime which was a pleasant surprise.

I think we just removed the tail end of the Jokers thugs. 'Loopy' as he is known is currently on Southampton Shipyard after we destroyed his bomber. I don't hold much hope of him actually making it to the Newgate, they have a habit of escaping.
However I am fairly sure they will be keeping away from Bretonia.
After the repetetive defeats they have suffered at our hands they appear to be downscaling their operations and moving them back to Liberty.
I only spent a few minutes in space, just long enough to finish off said thug and deposit his escape pod at the nearby Southampton.
The BPA is looking strong, I just hope we are strong enough to handle the meat-grinder that is Dublin.

Good evening everyone! The other day, I pulled a shift in the Leeds system, as there were quite a few traders going this way and that. A few scans, conversations, and pleasantries occurred, however there was one problem. That problem was some pirate named Insignia wanting to make illegal fireworks. Also.. this pirate seems to be a woman.. and what happens when I drink a bit too much tea? Well the Hussar is untouchable!
The poor lass fired a torpedo, and it had exploded! Luckily, my below wear had been unsoiled and only minor damage to the shields. The transport that was held up was holding up alright.
Today, I flew patrols until an ion storm disrupted normal procedures. I have spoken with a friendly Mandalore, along with a bounty hunter, and some mysterious XTF person. With no trouble in the New London system, I proceeded to the Manchester system where I found Jareks.Smuggler flying around with Diamonds.
With that, he continued on his way, along with my patrol. Checking the New London system again and seeing it clear, I flew back to the Derby due to the warnings of the ion storm.
Fine patrols indeed! Lucky my tea supply didnt run out this time or go cold.

Well, it was some first day...
Having set my new Hussar's transponder correctly, I headed off to equip her. One Enhanced Countermeasure Dropper, one Train Cruise Disrupter and one Pulse Cannon. Immediately after it was all successfully installed, I received a call from Commander Lucy Silsbury. I headed to Planet New London, where there were two Molly ships, belonging to the Molly Republic. [MR]Aidan.Hourahan and [MR]Gaul, one of which had been previously involved in attacking shipping. After they refused to stand down, Commander Silsbury ordered us to engage. With Adam Savins, Gideon Brayson and Commander Lucy Silsbury, I went on the offensive. Even though Commander Silsbury was unfortunately put out of action by a stray mine, we continued the attack. In the end we prevailed, and the Mollies were forced to retreat. Superintendent Calvert congratulated us, and I landed for minor repairs. I could get used to this...
