The noob tube for discovery and probably all of freelancer is not the Snac, because complete noobs will never land a hit on a fighter with it.

the noob tube for discovery has and probably always will be the Battleship. noobs get blown up countless times in their traders, fighters, miners, gunboats, and bombers. while saving up for the ultimate promise of have super doom guns and epic hull strength.

because they deem these things more important to success in combat, and you can overpower that one guy who caused you so much hastle all this time. simply beceause he cant hurt you but you can (potentially) hurt him. seasoned veterans know that normally this just isnt the case but new players dont know.

however a battleships hull lasts long enough for them to survive longer than 1 second in the heat of a battle granting them at least some thrill, before their potential distruction.

So inactual fact this video is a very good reason why battleships should always be open and accessable to all the players all the time and never SRP only.

Bombers are sluggish, fighter-sized (and a bit) ships with relatively colossal cores to make up for it. If not handled with care, they should be dangerous to snubs. Fighting caps in a bomber is already boring. Let's not make fighting bombers in a fighter equally boring.

Again, people are pretending SNACing snubs is something a "bomber jockey" can do on demand and act like there's no counter to it.

Guess what? There IS a counter, and it's called moving around. Monitor your distance to all bombers in a brawl. If your shields are down, don't let them get to less than 300 meters. SNACing a dodging target from longer ranges is nearly impossible.

Stop trying to solve problems exclusively by crying imbalance, people, and put in a tiny bit of practice if you want to be of use in PvP. That bomber you jousted who rammed a SNAC into you at point blank most likely practiced too.

If you think flying a battleship was as simple as "point at target, click, target goes away" then you need to fly one, you're in for one hell of a shock.

New players may be under the impression that Battleships are the be all and end all but the reality is they're far from that. If anything I'd say they're pathetically underpowered for what they should be. But hey, I think anything stupid enough to come within 1k of a battleship should burn up pretty quick to force snubs to actually think about how to approach and keep range when engageing them, but very few people seem to think bombers should be at any risk whist engageing battleships face to face.

yes I flown battleships for years, and while all of what haste said above is also true
it points out that the snac is not a noob tube at all. I have been snac'd sure i mean everyone gets one eventually to the face.

This thread was really less about OMG IVE BEEN SNAC'D AND DEMAND CHANGE, but more that, "change was promised when the issues forcing its creation in the first place were fixed and sorted, but this hasnt been followed through".

the battleship IS undeniably the noob tube of the freelancer world, and actually the larger the ship the more noobs it attracts, regardless of your opinion. It also doesnt matter how hard it is to fly one because again as haste points out it isnt even easy to snac somebody. noobs dont get bombers they save up for battleships, trading for weeks without saying a word to anyone.

thats how its always been and I dont really know why people suddenly getting offended by this.

I didnt say everyone that has or plays a battleship is a noob which is the conclusion you both have jumped at right away, I cant even fly battleships that well with all this turret steering going on. and to be honest i gave up with battleships after they said battleship guns would be made more interesting with the turret split mod.
and then forced everyone to have cerberus and as many as possible because everything else is useless, they removed a problem and just replaced it with the same problem in different clothes. battleships are total garbage.

It affords the noobs protection from being instantly or quickly destroyed in all but the most unfortunate circumstances.

why do you think cruise drain was invented? the rheinland battleship was the de facro noob tube of the discovery world, it could fly up to people and end them with little effort

some people say SNAC is bad but with new transport turrets (dulzian and nad else) which shoot like GB and with out SNAC think hmm it will be paradise for traders. Because with torpedoes we have we cant catch runing pilot/trader . Probably maby create new torp which have new parameters -low damage +speed and refire but leave in peace SNAC
