' Wrote:Allright!! What I wish is for the player run corps to be less bossy. Just because they're the biggest and most well established liberty navy player group DOES NOT mean that liberty navy belongs to them. They are just a group operating in liberty navy and DO NOT represent the entire values or control of the LN.
Others should be free to set up their own squardron without being flamed to death.
Anyway, I'm looking to set up a peacekeeping force. When nations clash for no reason except political, the people suffer. I want to set up a corp to preserve that freedom of the people. Well.. something like that. A new nation where people tired of war and strife can flee and start anew. Only problem is we need LOTS of people to do that. Impossible. Cannot be done. Even if half of discovery join my cause, we simply can't. Unless the server player limit is extended to 1000 and we actually have the players to populate it.
This kind of EvE-born mentality will get you destroyed here. The Factions (not corporations) are 'here to help.' (Except the Phantoms and the Angels) Your mandate is basically to cause trouble and stir up wars. That doesn't go over too well with me, and frankly, I don't think it will go over too well with the powers that be, either. Regardless of whether you do it or not within the rules you will become hated and despised and run off the server. Discovery has no room for this kind of mentality.

Welcome to Discovery. Read the rules, and have fun!

Well I have explored the known universe in search of safe trade routes. Have found a relatively safe one, advice to all traders, STAY CLEAR OF THE LANES AND GATES IN LIBERTY!!!. Scout if you must. I kinda know whos bashing up who, and personally, I feel like joining the Bretonia Armed Forces... but will wait for the story regarding them using criminals to fight... if so I'll go up north and join the Kusari... Have some time.
I have flied around in a gunboat in openSP, as well as several other large craft and I like it.
I'm willing to exercise my capship in a rp and responsible manner, defending my house/faction and raiding my enemies. However, I do not take orders from other players. I want a cap to fight for my faction and one day start my own in the distant future if things go well for me. I will do this my way, not get ordered around by players. In other words, as is the name of this game, 'FREELANCER'. I work for the navy. My RP: work for navy, earned my assault cruiser, loved by my state, respected by my enemies. The makings of my very first merc squardron...
I don't see whats so wrong with that, just because I'm an indie navyman doesn't mean I'm going to go around killing civilians, same rules apply to me...
So I don't understand why when I ask several questions all I get are several repetitive posts basically telling me to 'shut up, get lost or be a slave to some player run faction, thats the only RP allowed here'.
EDIT: So, I haven't done anything yet, at least I'm taking the trouble to ask before really pissing someone off in game. And I do come from EvE, how did you guess?
I kinda went from Freelancer -> EvE -> Freelancer & Part Time EvE.
So once again, contrary to what you may believe, I'm not here to stir up trouble, and the fact that I'm asking about the rules now shows my initiative to do so.

Well I've seen you online, once, trading in Kusari, but yea. Your Rp is not bad apart from the occasional emoticon, but anyway. I support ANYBODY getting a capital ship, but not those who believe they can just buy one and go into battle in a battle vsing fighters. I also support the fact that ALL capships should be registered. I am not for the fact that official faction leaders should be able to order indies around, and I personally think as an independant capship pilot, you don't have to follow their instructions if you deem them unneccessary.
Put it this way. NEVER before have I recieved an outright command asking me to do anything in particular. Independants are free, and official faction leaders should be only able to suggest things to you. I support that they order you to stop doing something if you are doing something stupid, or that they can get rid of your ship if you are cought repeatedly doing wrong actions, but apart from that factions don't really have much of a control over you.
But it all depends on how you plan to fly your capship. Me, having numerous capships of my own, prefer capships because fighter fights are often "spazzy" because of my high ping. Capship battles are slower and you can develop talent alot easier than in a fighter. Being in a capship also opens a wide range of new RP opportunities.
In anycase. Being in a capship does not give you power, nor does it give you the right to command anybody else. Im not assuming or trying to say that you are going to do this, but please be aware of this fact.
Oh. And merc faction: Dont bother. Really. Dont waste 500m trying to create one.
Freelancers and mercenaries CANNOT use capships anyway. Think about it realistically. A freelancer or mercenary won't get access to the armies best warships.
Silverleaf, your last post seems to be a little more relaxed than the rest of them, which is good, considering that you managed to missspell the topic.
Slow down buddy, nobody is here to harm you.
Look, this is a team play, in essence.
If you don't want to play with other players, there is always a single player experience, in various games.
However, since you are here, and very vocal around Battleship rights, and freedom of captain's, I'd say multiplayer is your thing.
So, sit down, take a cup of coffee, tea, some Orange juice, whatever works for you. Take a few minutes to calm down.
Then, pop up the rules thread, and read the rules.
Then, go and read the sanction reports. You'll then be nearer to understand why the rules are in place. For instance, capital ships are getting more and more restricted. As I understand there used to be a lot of people just trading around, untill they get enough cash to buy a battleship, and then buying one, and going around shooting other people.
As we have allready concluded, this is team experience, and everyone is here to have FUN.
Now, as it is a Role Playing server, any PVP that you, me, or anybody else does, should, ideally, be within the role play.
And, when someone just goes around in a big ship, and everyone is expecting them to talk first (do you know how much does a shell for a battleship cost? Not to mention other people's lives) and then maybe shoot, and you just go shoot people in their faces, it makes them unhappy. And, as I said, the point is for us all to have fun.
So, in that particular situation, you can expect a slew of bombers wiping you out (remember it historically: Captain of Kriegsmarine Bismark was a capwhore, he went around pwning other people, so they ganged up on him, and sent him down to Davey Jones' locker).
Role play, in essence is replaying real life things that cannot easily be done in reality (that's why we play computer games, right?)
So, if we are allready all roleplaying trader ship captains, fighter jocks, starving pirates, evil drug dealers, pacifistic neutrals, or whatever, why not jump on the train with everyone else and RP that your cruiser or battleship needs logistical support, as it would in RL.
Which would be huge!
And then, you would have superiors. Don't think that a chief of any nation is the ultimate badass. Those folks that tend to be are called dictators and they are usually frowned upon by all. Just look what happened to some of the more famous ones: Hitler, Saddam.. and, don't think that having a big gun makes someone afraid of you. They may go in a little slower, but they will get you in the end. Now, to all of you here, I appologise for all those real life references I made, but they just seemed appropriate. Also, I kinda lost myself near the end, but, well.. try to think about what I'm talking around here, and slow down a bit.
Well, I did meet him today online on his Universal, not a bad Rper I must say, improvement is always needed so don't stop there, hes a person who can be trusted a capship, yes, but a freelancing(not indie) capship is rather...well...unrequited.
Well I scrapped the freelancing idea after it was shot down... I'm just trying to be an indie navy captain now...
Intend to maybe get a liberty navy ship... to be honest, I enjoy RPing, just don't spend much time exclusively RPing. Do it on trade runs, haggle with pirates, when I see other traders. Not going to sit on the gate chatting while some pirate in a bomber sneak up behind me and torpedoes me... or use me for capship target practice.
I never really intended to go around blastin everyone on my capship either. May join the navy some day and then get my capship. I will be indie, but will get it registered. Is there anytihng that I should know about that process? Whos there to say no to me? There shouldn't be... I'm free to work for the navy...

I didn't know emoticons were banned, fine will stop using them now. In my previous RP games emoticons were encouraged to facilitate RP.
