Didn't make sense or "too long; didn't read"?
Either way, I'll see if I can give you a tl;dr summary.
There's a giant empire run by a species called the Crathygtan. They want to create a utopia, life for all without strife. They want to achieve this through total domination. This domination is enforced by the "enlightenment" process. It is a medical procedure that cannot be reversed, really. Phantoms are all "enlightened." They are tasked with weakening the Houses so that the military infrastructure can be compromised enough to "enlighten" whoever's left.
Imagine it. No more war. No more fighting. All under the Crathygtan flag!
'Course, you'd never hear a Phantom admit it directly...
I know from personal experience that the Phantoms are awesome people. Although I've only ever RP'd with one. (Black Rose <3333), I can already tell the people who are in the Phantoms are respected players, so I can safely say "Awhsum are pee'erz."
Not to mention Zapp, Virus and Joe are in there so the win is just massive already.
The only thing I find confusing is the C’Tans Empires apparent equal strength to the Da’am Kavosh and not being able to simply steam roll humanity, since put it any way you like, but the Da’am Kavosh could easily steamroll humanity if they showed up again for any reason. (I mean come on, they could move freaking planets and defy the most basic laws of physics as evident by that crazy thing in Gallia)
After all, the Nomads would have won the Nomad war had it not been for a Deus Ex Machina with Trent so I find it an almost silly notion that an even more powerful race could fail to overtake humanity with their full force.
I could easily buy that their empire simply never encountered the D'K before they vanished, and only recently came to this sector via a Hypergate or some sort of wormhole, but the current thing I find a bit hard to believe.

Thats probably the best advice I have ever heard in reguards to dealing with the Phantoms.
' Wrote:Any other advice, which entails calling the Phantoms good role-players or imported PVP whores, depending on who you are, would just be biased.
(Regardless of how accurate one's viewpoint is.)
Let me restate that, it is probably the best advice I have heard in regards to dealing with any faction.. any player on the server, try to walk into any interaction with another player without pre conceived notions of what should happen. Let your thoughts about the situation develop as they would if you were actually your character, dont let someones ID tell you how to deal with them, let their actions do that.
