' Wrote:While I think it's a great gesture by the HF to the rest of the community, hopefully helping to silence the anti-faction minority - I'm of the mind that closed factions add to the mystique of what those factions are about - it gives people a reason to join them, and therefore add to the activity of those factions. Opening things up for indies takes away potential faction members, and overall makes things harder for those officials.
It's balanced in a sense by limiting the heaviest ships to the Officials, so thats something. But I still think, especially in these days of disco, its something of a wound to the concept of what official factions are, and makes it harder for them.
As for the ID proposed - it seems a little wonky. Considering its a first draft, I think it needs a bit of tweaking - because what you would want an indie ID for is a lot of versatility - for instance, trading, etc. This version seems entirely pvp focused.
Also, is the Legion big enough in terms of population that a mass horde of indies makes sense? From my understanding of Legion rp, they were basically a renegade fleet, that has gained enough resources for a small military industrial economy, but are still small in terms of civilian population, etc.
Other then that, I still think its a very cool thing for HF to do for the community - and I doubt the admins\devs would have a problem with it, assuming the ID gets worked out.
Nothing more to add. Really good idea.
You got this from me- the HF ID hater when the 4.86 IDs were introduced so it must mean something.

And, forthcoming BC? What part of not submitted and probably would be shot down by the devteam do you not understand? >_>
I must have hit a tender spot there. Sorry for that! Let me correct myself... *removes part about battlecruiser* There!
The question isn't what I actually want. The question is what I can actually do. Arbiters would still be closed for me, no matter what my intentions with it are. If caps are to be restricted to officials only, then it should be so in all factions. I surely wouldn't mind that, but I don't think it's ever gonna happen.

If someone feels like flying [HF] cap soooooo bad, he can apply to the official faction, it's not like we are a closed faction that recruits per invites, or only sometimes we have our recruiting open.
If someone want to RP HF, I don't see why he -must- have a cap for it, you can RP one perfectly fine with a fighter or bomber.
What the one above me said.
I see the double ID solution as pure win for all kind of factions actually.
None stops the other factions to ask for their own faction ID, none stops them to restrict their own tech to Indies if double ID is added.
Official factions have the right to control their tech and diplomacy and tons of responsibilities to cover this rights. Admins cannot refuse it since it would be double standard compared with the other factions.
Double-ID standard is a lot better then closed factions and million years better then closed invite-only factions for all involved.

I like competition and I like a faction being unique.
Being able to have everything you want is simply boring and the lesser the number of closed faction will be, the more boring becomes the whole atmosphere on the server.
Its just my honest personal opinion so dont bitch me for it.
