Might I make a suggestion? Instead of punishing the whole faction, pick out those who were rude and suspend them. If they were in positions of power, remove them. If the factions cannot function without them, dissolve them.
These people are supposed to be representing the best interests of the faction as a whole in this matter, and they are clearly doing more harm than good.

Quote:Maybe you didn't do any of it, but unfortunately Doc, you aren't the majority, green name or not.
Never said that I was. I just find myself on the receiving end of a much undeserved whooping stick.
Quote:You fail to see that while the loud minority is a minority, it's still loud.
As with RL, the minority wins. Look at American politics for RL proof of this.

I proposed this idea....and lost.
As I said, I'll take my fight to something else that I CAN win with. I had a nice work-out this afternoon with my instructor.
I've made every rational and polite argument I can think of as to why these changes are harmful and uncalled for, in an effort to paint a side of the Zoners that is deserving of these assets. I've been fighting against these sorts of changes for a long, long time now. The debates on this subject have taken a toll on the community, including certain devs who should be in our corner, but now seem to be so frustrated and jaded that they think backstabbing the faction is the only way to improve it.
Quote:i would actually love to retcon all zoner caps - and remove them. and enjoy the show as the zoner factions tumble into nothingness. - literally becoming inactive and removed. - but that is just cause i am a cynic and love to give ppl what they want - when i know that it will kill them.

Official factions are held to a higher standard on Discovery. They always have been.
When the representatives of official factions are being rude and insensitive to administrators and developers and the game as a whole, then we have a major problem. Much more major than a few indies being loud and obnoxious.
Ok, so I've accepted that changes come and go on Disco. So can anyone answer me this:
Will the value of the ships change? Meaning when this change goes into effect and I wake up and log my neph one day and its now the transport version, will it sell back to an NPC base for the same amount? Honestly I'd like to try out the new version, especially if it will serve as a 'mini barge'. A larger than the typical 5000 hold would make it half decent, and quite useful. But I'd also like to know if its cash value is going to drop. If so, I'd like some inclination on that to know whether to sell it now or not, if it is going to take a significant drop in value. I think that is only fair.

Well, the community wanted Zoner ships nerfed. They got it.
They didn't want Zoner to have a planet. Well, since Canaria will become an iceworld, they got that to.
*shrugs* Guess I need to remake Doc into his old nasty self.

Yes, Doc, lets 'remake' our chars into nothing more than mere mercenaries that would do bussiness with anyone for a profit. Maybe we can even have some fun and get to shoot down some non-vanilla pseudo-house flagship while we are at it. That would be fun.

Perhaps it's time that said factions pack it in.
Or perhaps its time for the admins and developers to pack it in?
You say that official factions are held to a higher standard.....I'd assume that both the admins and the developers are held to an even higher standard.
I've seen some of the conversations between the Zoner official leaders and admins/devs. Neither side has any room to talk about being rude or insensitive to one another.
Speaking from personal experience with many of the current developers - none of them give to iotas about what the player base wants. They will do what they want to do. Myself and a number of other Zoner players offered to rewrite and rebalance Zoner lore for the development team and we were told that it wasn't a high priority and it wouldn't be included. Basically, frack off.
So, while I agree with you that the leaders of the official factions need to keep in mind that they are leaders and that they need to behave as such - I'd suggest that you, the admins, and the other developers also keep that in mind. From what I've seen not many of you are keeping that in mind.
