Subject: Report: Scouting locations to use the NEMP torpedos
Loading Message
This afternoon Lieutenant-Commander O'Brien and myself left Bering to scout possible places to target with the NEMP torpedos. Luckily, despite the amount of time we spent flying, we found no dangers.
We started by scouting a few locations within the Texas system. The first data we collected was on the BattleshipMississipi. Next, I followed the Lieutenant-Commander to the area around Sugarland. Finally, to complete the recon mission in Texas we took some footage from the Virginia Jump Gate.
When this was all said and done, we moved on to Pennsylvania. Here we captured some images of Philadelphia Station and a few more from Battleship Gettysburg. After this, we took the Kansas jump hole and made our way back to Bering.
On a hint I moved to the California system. It appears the Navy is building a small shipyard. Well at least it is called so. It looks more like a depot so we still have time.
I took pictures and it looks like it is mid construction. If we strike now we can still cause severe damage.
Today has been a rather normal day. However, things took a turn for the better while probing Navy defenses in the New York system. While enroute to test the Manhattan defensive weapons, I passed a Navy battleship. Upon seeing it heading the other direction, I ordered the helm to follow suite. Sure enough, it paid off. A group of Rogues and their Outcast allies were heavily engaged with Navy forces. Upon seeing the battleship, I ordered gunnery to prepare to engage. Soon after the enemy warship stopped moving, presumably due to critical engine failure. I ordered the main cannon to barrage the hull and it soon shattered. While allied forces mopped up we began a short retreat for a damage assessment. This respite was short lived however, as a second wave of Navy forces arrived on scene, this time much more organized than the previous force. This time we sustained moderate damage and our allies lost a heavy capital ship. Allied forces took quite the beating, but with the timely arrival of the Chicago, we prevailed. At the end of the engagement, one enemy warship was spared for.. a fee. Odd, but we were only assisting, we didn't question. After the vessel was spared, Chicago and I returned home for repairs and our crews to relax.
As per assignment, I dedicated part of duty to scouting out the positions of the Gallic advance on Bretonia and Liberty. Initially beginning alongside Lena Smith, we had separated once an ion storm took out my systems. Once back online I had decided to shorten my scouting run and return to base. My run took me to Magellan, where I located the Gallic battleship not too far from what debris remains from the old freeport. Navy patrols were scarce if not non-existant, perhaps Gallia has made more advances than I thought. However at the time my vessel began to act up once more, and I immediately returned to Marshall. The second note about the assignment is the increasing frequency of Gallic incursions into California I hear from time to time. One such occasion I witnessed first-hand aboard a bomber stationed at Cochrane, an interception patrol turned into a fleet-wide combat scenerio between a very large Gallic force and the Navy defenders. I had picked targets of opportunity, engaging Navy vessels trying to retreat or out flank the Gallic force, and while I was also prepared to engage Gallic fighters sent to intercept, they hadn't attacked me. Probably the confusion of Navy vessels firing upon other Navy vessels. My bombing runs were cut short by a wing of Navy fighters sent to shoot me away from retreating ships. Sustaining moderate damage, I withdrew to Cochrane, the end of that battle is unknown to me. That is all, Lena should be in with her scouting report soon.
I have completed my scouting missions in California, Magellan, and Cortez. Following the instructions of Commander Linford, I committed to an extensive grid by grid search of the sectors in question, and have several interesting findings to report.
First, the Gallic presence in Magellan is mirrored by a second battleship in Cortez. Secondly, the locations of several jumpholes to connecting systems in the areas in question, leading to future possibilities for scouting and hidden movements of assets. And finally, the discovery of the Liberty Dreadnought Yukon holding position near Planet Curacao, seemingly directly contesting the presence of the Gallic battleship near Cortez's sun.
I was on routine patrol in Bering when I encountered a ship transmitting an LSF frequency. After a brief investigation, it would seem that the pilot wishes to defect, being on the run from her own kind. I'll attach the recorded communications logs below, for review by the Admiral. For reference, I encountered Alison in a liberator light fighter.
[16.11.2017 12:05:52] Alison.Barlett: Greetings, Lena.
[16.11.2017 12:06:01] H|-Lena.Smith: Good day.
[16.11.2017 12:06:09] Alison.Barlett: Nice to see you around.
[16.11.2017 12:06:15] H|-Lena.Smith: Not often we see LSF foolish enough to come out here.
[16.11.2017 12:06:27] Alison.Barlett: You are right, I'm on the run.
[16.11.2017 12:06:48] H|-Lena.Smith: Do I care who you're on the run from?
[16.11.2017 12:07:04] Alison.Barlett: I mean, did i ever once state that you did? I don't think so.
[16.11.2017 12:07:27] H|-Lena.Smith: So then, why are you out where the LSF are not welcome?
[16.11.2017 12:08:21] Alison.Barlett: I was wanting to get in contact with you, or someone in Harmony. I've heard about recent events.
[16.11.2017 12:08:55] H|-Lena.Smith: Oh? What events if I may ask.
[16.11.2017 12:09:27] Alison.Barlett: With the LSF forces.
[16.11.2017 12:09:34] Alison.Barlett: I'm not sure if i have to remind you of such.
[16.11.2017 12:10:00] H|-Lena.Smith: You'll have to be slightly more specific. There are lots of recent events concerning the LSF.
[16.11.2017 12:10:35] Alison.Barlett: I've been told there is a base somewhat around here, or somewhere close, Belonging to the forces? Right.
[16.11.2017 12:11:21] H|-Lena.Smith: I expect you would know exactly where it is. Given your affliation and all that. So maybe you've heard something. Whats in it
[16.11.2017 12:11:22] H|-Lena.Smith: for you?
[16.11.2017 12:12:35] Alison.Barlett: Well they are after me, and i'm not sure on what to do, so i've come out here, to chat with you on a good solution.
[16.11.2017 12:13:22] H|-Lena.Smith: You are aware that by siding with Harmony in any way, you'd be painting a target on your back?
[16.11.2017 12:13:45] Alison.Barlett: I mean i understand this, That's exactly what i'm after.
[16.11.2017 12:14:05] Alison.Barlett: I think i need to show them, I'm not scared.
[16.11.2017 12:14:24] H|-Lena.Smith: I'd say there are easier way to achieve that.
[16.11.2017 12:15:00] Alison.Barlett: Look, I'm on the run from them, I want to fight back against the forces. I'm not here to talk about anything else, That's why ~
[16.11.2017 12:15:03] Alison.Barlett: I've come to you.
[16.11.2017 12:15:45] H|-Lena.Smith: I see. What do you bring to the table? You must know we have logistical limitations.
[16.11.2017 12:16:32] Alison.Barlett: I will do anything i can, I do understand that, yes.
[16.11.2017 12:17:04] H|-Lena.Smith: You a scout pilot? Or is that just for staying ahead of them?
[16.11.2017 12:18:35] Alison.Barlett: Deffiantly not. I've just told you, there after me? Why would i do something for such people. That want me dead.
[16.11.2017 12:18:44] H|-Lena.Smith: You misunderstand.
[16.11.2017 12:19:00] H|-Lena.Smith: Do you have access to more ships than that or not is the question.
[16.11.2017 12:19:33] Alison.Barlett: I don't, no.
[16.11.2017 12:19:42] Death: Katie.Forester was put out of action by a hostile vessel.
[16.11.2017 12:19:43] Alison.Barlett: Should i?
[16.11.2017 12:20:44] H|-Lena.Smith: Interesting. Well, I can't say what you need or don't need. I have little to go on here, but I'll raise your compliance to the
[16.11.2017 12:20:48] H|-Lena.Smith: Admiral for review.
[16.11.2017 12:21:30] Alison.Barlett: I do have access to a ship... I could risk my life to bring such back? If that's what you are asking.
[16.11.2017 12:22:23] H|-Lena.Smith: If we were to welcome you into our ranks, dead won't be worth much. For now I advise not doing anything brash as we wait
[16.11.2017 12:22:28] H|-Lena.Smith: for the Admirals verdict.
[16.11.2017 12:22:55] Alison.Barlett: I could do that, If accepted - what shall happen from there on?
[16.11.2017 12:24:21] H|-Lena.Smith: You'd be put to work. Every hand is needed, and we have no shortage of operations you would be able to assist with.
[16.11.2017 12:25:21] Alison.Barlett: I'm glad, please make it known i would have big plans to help you guys and the forces out. I'm here to help in whatever way.
[16.11.2017 12:26:58] H|-Lena.Smith: I'll do so. I assume you'll hang around somewhere reachable?
[16.11.2017 12:27:31] Alison.Barlett: I'll be here, I will not be moving - I'm here to assit, i have no further plans. Hopefully i can join you guys. I hope.
[16.11.2017 12:28:22] H|-Lena.Smith: I can't promise anything, but I will raise it with the admiral asap. Go get some rest while we wait for the verdict. I'll let ~
[16.11.2017 12:28:26] H|-Lena.Smith: you know as soon as possible.
[16.11.2017 12:28:39] Alison.Barlett: Roger that, I hope to speak to you soon, Smith.
[16.11.2017 12:28:48] H|-Lena.Smith: Likewise.

Seems like the Navy, or one of its subsections, is making plans to fortify Los Angeles again. I'm certain there is something we could do about this. It was guarded by two Siege Cruisers when I found it.
