While that attempt at humor is funny, again it's not true.:)
Just like any other faction, anyone can apply to the Keepers.
But, just like any other faction, if you dont follow the faction entrance requirements
you don't get accepted. It has absolutely nothing to do with personal things between
Treewyrm and the applicant, or "jokes" or yanking someones chain, or stringing them along,
or elitism, or favours for people.
People who say those things often haven't been accepted for one legitimate reason or another,
and THEY get personal with their subsequent forum posts and pm's.
Anyone can apply to the Keepers. Just like anyone can apply to the LN, or the Rogues, or Outcasts. The ONLY difference is that the Keepers have access to nomad weapons and ships, and as such have a higher entrance exam.
Now you (the reader) tell me this. Is it appropriate to let someone in who only wants to fly nomad ships with nomad guns, but doesn't understand the responsibility and Role play associated with the Nomads or Keepers? So a trial period was set up to screen those that can make the grade and those that can't. It is a system that turns out Keepers, and turns away those that don't have what it takes. Theres nothing personal about it.
Let me put it this way. Do you think the Liberty Navy would allow someone to come in as an admiral with access to capital ships and the best Navy weps, straight off the bat without first proving that they can roleplay in those caps first? Once they have proven themselves, yes, then it's no problem. But in the faction they still have to go up the ranks, as it were.
Independent nomads and wild ARE possible, but as you can see from Snapp's bitterness, its a lonely tough road.
weylin: Tentacle pron always helps;)

That's what he thinks it is, but this is absolute non-sense. No favors are done, never asked, never accepted. Taking favors means risking endangering playability of the Nomads here. I don't take risks with membership, much is at stake.
' Wrote:Sorry, but 5+ months, 4x re-written stories, and alot of late nights and im still not in the keepers and still havent recieved a solid "no, not ever in your life" answer from him, so yes, thats EXACTLY what he's done to me.
Wasn't that because he kept taking the time to review your work and turn it down for whatever reason he had going?
If anything the biggest problem I've ever had with Treewyrm was trying to corral the amount of helpful advice he would give me when I asked a question. Something about photoshop would turn into a lesson about constructing hitbox surs to the nature of the mindshare.
If your RP didn't fit in with the Keepers, there's nothing that can be done. If he sends it back as 'no bueno' and you return it virtually unaltered there's not much to be done for it. If you do the same thing four times it's not going to significantly alter the situation.
There's a Xeno indie running around who's a Kusarian. If he tried to get into the XA (which he didn't) he'd be rejected hands down and we'd explain as to why. If he tried to submit it three more times he would have been rejected three more times. It's how he wanted to roll, we didn't feel it fit in with the faction, so we would go our separate ways. Doesn't mean we're elitist.
If we run into one another, we're probably going to tell him to get out of our sight afor we put one betwixt his eyes. Or, rather, do, as that's exactly what we did. Doesn't mean it's personal.
Admission into Das Wilde and the Keepers isn't handed out like candy, but it's certainly not an improbable venture.
Post deleted. My apologies to anyone who saw it. I felt quite sick after posting.

is this whole deal only for independants?
Are you allowed to join but only like fly in formation with others of your kind?
No one can force you to do anything. If you don't want to RP on system thats fine. If you just want to fly with the others I think thats fine too, but you might like to check with Treewyrm. I'm pretty sure he'll say that.

sounds like some kind of super special nerds only club that only teh l337 can join, and only if ur a mega RP whore that takes RP more seriously than life <3
Honestly, that's like insulting people for performing well academically or managing to live a healthy life. It's the equivalent of a "Look at my thumb, you're dumb" thing.
Quote:However, one should go ahead and consider thier "keeper request" denied.
Snapp: No, one shouldn't and this is what I keep trying to head off. You gave up Snapp. Don't tell others to give as well, thats just not on. I think that you need to lay the Keeper thing to rest, but don't tell others to give up or "it's hopeless," because it isn't.
I'm sorry that you feel such animosity towards the whole experience, and I wish there was something I could do. But ever since Treewyrm said to you, "try again", the ball has been in your court. And you dropped it. Theres nothing anyone else can do.
When you are a trial Keeper you cannot dictate how nomad RP should be. You can bring your own ideas but it must not conflict with already established RP and lore. It can build on it, but cannot contradict.
Treewyrm and the Keepers have corned the market for good reason. They have access to developers material, behind the scenes information, collectors packs of stuff, DVD disks and pre-FL-release sketches and the like. Based on this Treewyrm and the Keepers have and are creating Lore based on the original intent of the FL creators, in-line with Vanillla FL. When i mention the Keepers I'm talking about 15ish people here involved in the Lore making. Not to mention that the Keepers have the Admins backing after-you-would-not-believe-how-many times they said "No" to Treewyrm's nomad faction idea. But he never gave up and adapted his ideas until they were acceptable to the Admins.
When a potential Keeper "tries" out for the Keepers their RP is measured up to that stuff. If it doesnt line up or contribute something new to the lore line, advice is given. It's up to that person to get it right. It shows that independantly of any other Keeper or Treewyrm, that they can be trusted to do the nomad story right.
But RP isn't everything. If your attitude grates or warning signals go up about personality conflicts, then that also has a bearing on whether or not you get accepted. The fact that you have taken someone saying "No" to you and your subsequent hatred and personal grudge against the Keepers and Treewyrm particularly shows that the correct choice was made. And that came up in the trial period.
I AM sorry to have to say this, but that attitude is the main reason why you didn't make it. I'm not flaming you now, and I want you to understand, as it's your personal problem, that if you overcome it, it could help you in the future to be aware of.
This is an attempt at "can we be friends or something?" I noticed a personal problem and it would great if you can see it as well and overcome it. Because it will cause you problems no matter what faction you try to get into.
Does that make sense?
