Well, those creatures don't necessarily have to be crabs or krakens (and please, I've been playing FL for over half a year now, plus a few more months on 1.0 SP) Indeed, a kraken is a mythical maritime monster (seen both parts of the pirates too). The creatures indeed don't even have to be multicellular animals (Thx for the background, Harequin, your help will be greatly appreceiated), but indeed colonies of smaller organisms, big enough to pose a threat to the player's ship. The "space monster" as a bloodthirsty interstella beast is (I admit) something that would spoil disco's balance a bit, but not a few rarely encountered cell colonies, which if disturbed can cause you trouble. As any bigger terrestrial animal. (lol, space crab for dinner - well, humanity even currently tends to seek out new sorts of food, like shark fin, something ateable gets in demand if it's found tasty, even if it's expensive, then well, the rich always can afford it - just like the luxury food commodity) Those
"space crabs" as you name them, don't necessarily need to spawn those goods. They may even not spawn anything at all, I don't mind. I only think, that a new alien animal race would bring some life and action to the rarely visited places in Sirius.
what about, certain "colonies " of "monsters",u know like the exile colonie, or the twilight colonie, something like the maffia, or certain clans, the exile colonie ( for example) will attack all other colonies, and everything else, but yust not from his own colonie/clan.
Uhh, tot exactly, for u see, some monocellular organisms organize themselves into large, combined groups, called colonies (cell colonies), it is (still not quite exactly) a mid-form between mono and poly cellular organisms.
Why it must be an alien life form? What about robots? In shape of sharks! and their ships shoot powerful laser beams! I don't know where i've heard this before but it sounds awesome!
Well would be nice to see in a Sirius system seeing those aliens with Squid-shaped ships -come on, we have homeworld ships, star wars ships and even some weird 1958 retro movie Mars-attacks-Earth ships!- just in a reduced ambient, because the game would lose it's original plot (or the upcoming sequel won't fit with the storyline - who knows if someone decides to make one).
Robots, eh? Hmm, planet Gammu belongs to zoner-built and evolved robots. It is quite weird in my op, that although the zoners were forced to flee, those robots remain, even despite the fact that they always have one or two nomad battleships just planetside. Maybe those robots should too own some battlefleet to defend themselves? (lol, maybe a bad idea, but reasonable) Squids? Right, that's the sort of creature we're looking for, relatively big and dangerous (not necessarily looking terrestrial)
Nah, on second thought, the nomads already look like squids... Let's just stay focused on the alien animal matter, as plausible scientifically as possible.
By the way, I've undusted old Starcraft recenly. The zerg flyers would surely make good monsters. (they simply are monsters, animals, capable of surviving in space) Imagine: you're looking for a wreck in nomad space and all of a sudden 4 mutalisks and a guardian pop up and blow yur tiny little ship into smithereens. Just for fun and curiosity, I'm already workng on the scourge. I know it was a suicidal unit, that is why it will make a nice torpedo model. launched from an overlord or...zerg queen...? poertry:rolleyes:
