The Corsairs were at first relatively poor compared to their drug running brothers. The location of their homeworld Crete near a Red dwarf star is fairly barren, and has little arable land suitable for farming. They were forced to build their cities in the mountain regions, so that the little usable land would remain free from urban development. This is the root cause of the Corsairs greatest problem, famine, which claimed the lives of many early colonists. They first became aware of other humans when they discovered the Zoners, a neutral group of traders, who did not care who they sold their goods to or where their money came from. This allowed the Corsairs to get the supplies for their blooming empire, which was rapidly expanding along the independent worlds, and had begun to emerge into the Bretonian House.
However, the source of their new found wealth came from a new trade that had blossomed around Sirius' higher class, which was the trade of alien artifacts from the now vanished "Dom Kavash" civilization. The Corsairs have a special ritual, which involves a boy on the verge of becoming a man, to fly into a mysterious jump hole on the edge of the system, and retrieve an artifact from the system's inhabitants, which were "not human." It wasn't until contact was firmly established with the houses that the worth of these strange objects was realized, and the Corsairs began to make a large profit from their rite of passage.
Since this, the Corsairs have vastly expanded their influence, and now have large, permanent bases throughout Sirius, though they are most strongly concentrated along the lower edge of Sirius. The Corsairs also have gone on to become one of the best ship builders, using the large deposits of metal found in their native system to build some of the best ships in the sector, including their pride and joy, the Titan very heavy fighter.

Guys, come on. You know things are balanced just fine. You've gotta have a little bit of disparity between things or everything ends up grey and bland.
If things where balanced just fine then we wouldn't be having this discussion wouldn't you think?.
You've gotta have a little bit of disparity between things you say? a little would be just fine, but its not a "little" when all Outcast ships are made to Outclass the Corsair ships.
' Wrote:Now, the big problem that y'all on the Corsair side seem to have is that you don't have allies. I'm sorry, really, but thats the way you were made.
Its not really about allies, as we keep trying to tell people, its about the Outcasts getting ships that outclass the Corsair ships at every turn.
Lets not forget why this whole gunboat thread came up, some Outcasts get owned by Corsair gunboats (the only ship we have left that is better than the Outcasts), then its decided instead of trying to train up and tackle the problem that way we will just make us a new ship thats really small but has the same firepower of the Corsair gunboat. Yeah that will teach those grubby Corsairs.
Its trying to win through stat play not RP or PvP training.
I mean can you really understand why we have a light fighter that turns slower than your very heavy fighter?.
And the reason this keeps coming up is because it always gets brushed under the carpet instead of anything being done about it.
If they spend all their money on food...
and use all their metal to make ships...
...then they're impoverished.
Just remember, having a mansion doesn't mean you're rich, it just means you spent a lot of money.
@Equinox
Don't get mad at us Outcasts, make an appeal to Igiss to have it changed. He'll probably tell you that the Outcasts have fewer numbers but better technology and thus better ships. Remember, cardamine enhances the mind...
Same, I just realised how dumb I was to think that the blood dragons were elite fighter pilots using battleships..
Of course starvation affects economy. But that didn't stop the USSR releasing 40 thousand tanks at a stroke to push back Hitler's armies back to Germany.
If you cannot grow food, you look for alternatives, which is to buy and steal it. Of course, you need aggressive craft to steal these things, while not dying yourself. Hence, Corsairs are supposed to be good shipbuilders.
Equinox is correct in that this discussion gets brushed under the carpet because of all the flames. With or without the flames, this discussion needs to happen fully otherwise it will keep repeating itself. You can't hope it goes away because of the flames or if it gets locked, it'll just keep coming back.
Outcasts do have fewer numbers, but why do they have better tech? simply because they have less numbers? A large amount of people without accelerated minds can do just as well as a small amount of people with accelerated minds. See: Hive mind concept.
@Pip: I don't mind the Titan being worse than the Sabre, I mind that the Outcasts want everything of theirs to outclass everything of ours... even if they dont say it or admit it. (obviously thats huge bias on my part).
Hiding behind the word games again.. If they are one of the best ship builders in Sirius, and have relationship with Zoners then they should definitely have had the time to acquire same variety of ships Outcasts had. USA have spent lots of cash on weaponry and war tech which have made their economy run in debt in the long term. Are they impoverished? No. This doesn't mean they lack the power They still have the best warfare technology available in the world at the moment. And that is the main reason their economy is going on to live. It is obvious that Outcast technology beats Corsairs' in an unfair fashion which you can't conceal in anyway. And about considering wise tactics, why would people always tell Corsairs to think of wise tactics instead of moaning but not the Outcasts? Use bombers to counter the gunboats then instead of moaning as come on why don't we have a gunboat..

Sorry, the ships that BULLDOG and Vtec choose to use are not in my control.

Variety? We have one line of ships, just like you. Our allies made thei own ships separately.

Of course not. We have plenty of food and resources inherent in our country. The corsairs do not.

It's only unfair because we have cardamine which makes us smarter and live longer.

Because Corsairs are supposed to be the best pilots. We HAVE been using bombers. The reason we NEED our own gunboat is quite evident: almost all of our allies have their own, while we - arguably a house faction - don't.
