i just tried hauling prem scrap for the first time. cardamine / slaves have always been my go-to route, and its identical to prem scrap (tex to alpha). profit is ridiculous, even more so when you can do it on a neutral-ish ID. i dont know if all mining is like this, but compared to what I make hauling usual contraband, prem scrap is way, way, way too profitable. i do think this is the reason for so many junkers.

Actually, it's quite balanced in terms of profit/sec compared to all the ores. It appears to me OP-ness level profitable, but it's generally quite balanced. Platinum Ore is still more OP anyway.
The reason for so many Junkers is the sad lack of enemies on the way there. The playerbase isn't willing to fill the gaps where enemies are not present.
UC, CR, IMG and GMG are trying to though, which is nice to see. We just need to see Hogs, KNF and KSP getting in on that too.

How do we have that problem with Junkers right now at all?

Junkers make money from smuggling, scrap mining as well as piracy. I don't see any problems there. Junkers are specialized in Scrap collecting, as well as having the right diplomacy to smuggle effectively. Furthermore, they can indulge in piracy outside of house space, where they can fence cargo and make good use of their diplomacy yet again.
Then let them make the money from smuggling and piracy, instead of from collecting other people's refuse.

I don't really get your point there. What you quoted, underlined and painted red from what I wrote does obviously not include you as you are more of a scrapper Junker than a smuggler Junker. I never claimed all Junkers have to smuggle, only stated that I would find it way more logical and plausible if the legal activities would yield way less profit than the illegal ones.

Why ?
Junkers scrap. They have ships built to do one thing supremely well : scrapping.
So even if the semi-lawful status lets Junkers do other things like smuggling and pirating, and even if some Players dont like the thought of too many Junkers getting rich : why nerf SCRAP ?
Try getting FR5 on JM| and .:j:. for Pirating instead ? Would make sense inRP.
... oh, I forgot : the Junker Players are quite experienced in NOT getting caught, too bad.
So try and Pirate them instead ?
...oh, I forgot. They shoot back. And are still hard to catch. Sorry.
So for once - Please look at it from my point of view:
If you only squeal about scrap , you hit at about 25 - 30 % of all action the official factions are doing.
And it´s NOT their only money source, never was and never will be.
Quite uneffective, eh ?
For me : it´s worse. You hit somebody like me who want´s to trade SCRAP , and do some blokade running but no smuggling ,
at about 50 % of my assets.
And the funny thing is : I´ll ceep on running scrap, and I do NOT run it to Gama or Alpha except for perhaps 10% of my flights, because .... and here I agree with Lyth : It´s not worth the time involved !
If I do not want to smuggle, I get better profit trading Scrap as a normal , legal commodity to Yokohama and back, making about 40mil an hour doing so.
PremScrap is traded at 4k at the Haven , making it an interesting commodity for all Indies and Beginners,
and ll hold the price as long as I can.
I´d set open access at the Haven if I would not fear that it would be misused for metagaming to harm the Haven.
But it´s not to hard to send me a message : and I take no fee. Membership is not required.
I´d trade Copper and silver too if I had the Miners who want to fetch it.
As for trading Scrap to Yokohama for example :
Most of the *official Traders* would laugh and leave it alone, commenting that 40 mil an hour is not worth the flighttime ?
WHAT ?
It get´s me enough money that I´m currently planning to do a commodityevend and throw away about 300 - 500 mil FOR FUN ?
Hey, Folks :
If you want to hit Junkers, take a weapon.
If you want to ruin the game for other players... ceep on crying.

Reread. point is yours. Had half a bottle of wine already...

Does it explicitly describe a problem?

Actually, I fine people for breaking Junker base laws. I also make money on my Junker through 1 or 2 activites that could be associated with influence.
Regardless though, what they make in game from those doesn't matter. It'd be like complaining about Corporate or law enforcement players not getting a daily salary.

Why do they have to lose the ability from making money from premium scrap?
