INTRODUCTION
The Gas Miners Guild is the main supplier of H-Fuel to the four houses in Sirius. It is through our hard work and sacrifices that Sirius receives the clear and refined fuel that they use to power their ships and stations. It is through our independence that we can continue to supply everyone, no matter the political climate. Many try to take our hard earned assets away from us, falsely believing us weak, but we continue to defend our space against all intruders, fending off our enemies with our superior tactics in Nebula fighting. We will slip in, take down our target, and move out.
In the recent years, we have moved away from Sigma-13 and deeper into the other Sigma systems, looking for more deposits of H-Fuel to mine and sell off for profit. We clash with both Corsairs and Outcasts who try to expand their reign of plunder in our space. We maintain no warships nor standing armies, as our exceptionally trained and well equipped security staff is capable of taking down any threat by utilising their superior tactical skill to outsmart the enemy.
The GMG was originally formed by former Honshu agriculturists and fishermen forced to expand into the unclaimed Sigma systems by dire circumstances on their home planet. The lucrative gases in the nearby Crow Nebula allowed them to amass riches quickly, while their business sense drove them to create a guild that would assure their prevalence in the newly discovered star systems designated as the Sigma systems. But as the Guild expanded and grew, they encountered new threats. Pirates and terrorists throughout the border worlds saw GMG convoys and stations as opportune targets for many organized attacks and raids. With the appliance of resources into its security division, the GMG would open a new chapter in their history by leading the way in nebula warfare for centuries to come, and creating some of the best trained pilots in all of Sirius. These foundations allowed the Gas Miners Guild to become one of the largest and most profitable corporations in the sector.
The main administration of the GMG is located on Aomori Station, well protected both militarily and politically due to its location well inside Kusari space.
HISTORY Rise to Power
The Gas Mining Guild began its operations somewhere between the year 280 and 300 A.S. right after the massive Honshu food crisis of 250 A.S. caused by a failed Alien Organisms dispersion experiment. The crisis led to the bulk of the Honshu population losing their only source of revenue. Seeking new opportunities, the former fishermen started setting up new businesses, mainly gathering and selling hydrogen and helium isotopes from the abundant Crow Nebula to Kusari corporations. Without the modern miracle of jump gates, these journeys would take months before actually bringing in profit. Despite that shortcoming, it wasn't long until the corporate sharks of Kusari realised the gold mine that mining and refining fuel was, and the small Honshu businesses quickly felt the pressure of corporate prospectors encroaching on their mining fields. Rather than ignore this forming competition, the businesses had banded together to create the Gas Miners Guild.
By the start of the next century the GMG claim on the lucrative Sigma-13 system was put in stone by the Kusari government, and the Guild's own gas refining facilities. To enforce their claim even further, the Guild signed an exclusive sales contract with Samura Industries in 330 A.S., forcing Kishiro Technologies to pursue other markets and effectively removing the competition. The construction of the Osaka Storage Facility in 350 A.S. marked the beginning of a period of excessive income for both the GMG and Samura for the next 200 years.
New Enterprises
Despite their assured stranglehold on the lucrative H-Fuel trade, the Guild had never stagnated in any one place for long. Opportunities were aplenty in the rich but dangerous Border Worlds, and it wasn't long until the gas miners came in contact with Corsair raiders, spreading their alien trinkets and devices by the dozens. These would be called artifacts. The GMG would quickly become the middleman in the transport of these artifacts to Kusari. A short lived deal that would provide the Guild a grudge against the quasi-legal Hogosha, their Corsair partners and Samura itself - who would be blamed for lack of respect, due to the lacklustre intervention on their part.
In the end the GMG stuck to what it was able to do best: obtain H-Fuel. Survey parties were always being sent out across the nebula stretch, randomly combing it in search for more gas deposits. It would be until 550 A.S. before these searches would finally bring fruit. The Sigma-19 system, abundant in gas pockets, was branded as the next logical expansion point for the Guild. With the location now selected came the question of awarding the construction contract. While Samura pushed to renegotiate their H-Fuel contract to a lower price, the GMG decided to scout out the competition instead. After a steady period of negotiations, an agreement is signed in 550 A.S. contracting Kishiro Technologies to finance a Jump Gate to Sigma-19 in exchange for distribution rights. Construction would be completed almost a hundred years later, ending with the Gas Miner Ogashawa being stationed in the system, in the middle of the rich gas field.
Eighty Years War (589-668 A.S.)
Year 570 A.S. marked the escalation of tensions between Imperial Rheinland and its closest neighbours. Its factories had managed to create the biggest fleet in all of Sirius, fuelled by an enormous and resource hungry industrial machine. The ever increasing fuel demand of such a fleet put an extraordinary strain on the Rheinland economy, which having no fuel deposits of its own was forced to import almost all of its H-Fuel from Kusari. Suffering exceedingly large losses to its treasury, the Rheinland Emperor decided to put his great military to use.
Come 589 A.S. the Rheinland Military had dispatched the bulk of its fleet to cross the Frankfurt system into Sigma-13, and secure more gas fields for Kruger Minerals to exploit. This unprecedented event would mark the start of the first major conflict in Sirius, later known as the Eighty Years War.
Initially the invaders' progress was successful, with Imperial forces seizing much of the Sigma-13 system and pushing the GMG out of the Gas Miner Naha. Rather than opting for Kusari intervention, the Guild instead utilised Kusari's neutrality in the conflict to its advantage by basing its remaining forces out of Aomori Station in Honshu. Using its knowledge of the terrain and hidden jump holes all across the system, the Guild was able to send in substantial numbers of small strike craft to engage the Rheinlanders in guerilla warfare inside the nebula, slowly withering down the cumbersome Imperial fleet.
Several long years of conflict later the Rheinland Military had lost all of its initiative, with its forces stretched thin and its H-Fuel reserves catastrophically low due to GMG sabotage. In 660 A.S. the Rheinland navy was pushed away from Naha, when a daring boarding strike by the Guild took the station by force during a massed space assault. GMG forces slowly pushed the immobile Imperial fleets into the Yanagi nebula, until reaching the culmination of the war when the remainder of the Rheinland fleet jumped into Sigma-13 in 668 A.S. for the final shot at taking over the system. This engagement would be known as the Battle of the Yanagi Nebula, and would end with a decisive victory for the Gas Miners Guild, leaving a massive trail of wreckage floating in its wake.
With the destruction of the remaining Rheinland fleet, the long period of the Eighty Years War was finally over and the Imperial forces had retreated home to face their internal problems. Three years later, in the year 672 A.S. the Popular Revolution had began in Rheinland, forcing the Rheinlanders to finally lose their claim to the Sigma-13 system. The GMG was left to pick up the pieces and begin rebuilding in the region.
Post War Guild
In the first few years after the war, Sigma-13 was in pieces. Scavengers and pirates roamed the wrecks, looting all the valuables they could find, and the exhausted GMG would not have the numbers to stop them. Eager to get rid of the last remnants of the war from their system, the Guild entered negotiations with ALG Waste Disposal, brought to fruition by Interspace Commerce. The deal would change the terms of the Rheinland defeat, forbidding Military and Police units - as well as ships belonging to Kruger Minerals - from entering Sigma-13. Other Rheinland corporations would be allowed to pass, but not set up bases - with one exception: the ALG would be allowed to set up one base to help with the cleanup of the wreckage from the Yanagi field. Helgoland Station (as the base was christened) was set up at the edge of the scrap field bordering the trade lane to Naha, and would be the very symbol of the Rheinlanders' defeat for years to come.
The eighth century would also mark a period of increasingly difficult relations between the Guild and Samura Industries, who not only would stoically accept the Kusari government's war reparation tax put on the Guild after the defeat of the Rheinlanders, but would be trying to push down the H-Fuel price even further so as to finance their own gas mining project in Hokkaido. Convinced that Samura is abusing and exploiting their agreement, the GMG would finally agree to secretly finance Blood Dragon operations in Hokkaido, in order to stop the H-Fuel mining project there. To further aid the Dragons in their engagement, GMG veteran fighter pilots would pass on their experience in nebula engagements to the revolutionaries. This would allow Dragon fighters to turn circles around the Kusari Navy in both Hokkaido and Honshu, and conduct strikes with more precision and destructiveness than ever. Funding for the Dragon separatists would set the Samura project off schedule for years to come, and would make mining H-Fuel in Hokkaido far more expensive than the costs incurred by the GMG.
By the end of the Nomad War of 800 A.S. the Guild would begin their first negotiations with Kishiro Technologies regarding construction of new gas miners, as well as H-Fuel storage and distribution. Knowing full well that the contract with Samura would soon be over, the representatives of the Guild had no intention of prolonging it. The superior gas miners offered by Kishiro were to severely push down the cost of mining gases as well. By 801 A.S. the GMG agreement with Samura would be over, and an exclusive contract with Kishiro would now be in effect. The next years up to the present day would be extremely fruituous for the Guild. Reaping the profits of cheap H-Fuel and working with Kishiro to overhaul their equipment, the GMG is now free to rise again.
Sigma-59
GMG's hidden system. Discovered in 687 AS by the Kazuno-Maru, this remote system's primary purpose was to serve as the hidden home of one of GMG's greatest secrets: The Lost Children of Rheinland. In this system GMG's most honoured engineer had managed to bring three of GMG's worst enemy's battleships into full operation.
Later, in what would be the first encounter between GMG and the Outcasts, Battleship Namura had set out to explore the Omicrons further out from Sigma-59. Little did the Commander of the Namura know, they flew right into the home system of the Outcast's most deadly fleet: The 101st. Neither of the two groups had any knowledge of each other at the time, the GMG only knew that they lost their ship, but the Outcasts would get their opportunity to have revenge for the tresspassing of their prized system. GMG, not wanting to lose another of it's prized possessions had the remaining two stored in Sigma-59 and deppressurized. On began the work of making installations to secure 59 and keep the battleships safe.
Sakhalin Station was the first to be built in the remote Sigma 59 system. It was used as the base of operation to build GMG's largest and most heavily defended station: Niigata Station.
Such and undertaking was long in the making and very costly but worthwhile. In 816 AS Niigata was declared complete and became the home of the elusive Guild Masters of GMG. From Niigata Station the five GM's can oversee the entire direction of the guild under complete safety. Not ones to rest for long further development has been ordered to provide shipyard berths to Sakhalin and rumours speak of Namura's descendants, Namura Engineering, are having a research station built so they may continue to test their work at a safe distance.
Okinawa
In 812 AS, the GMG Explorer Kinai Maru surveyed a star system near Honshu and Sigma-19. The captain, Toru Watanabe, named the system "Okinawa," after the Prefecture of Japanese islands in the East China Sea on ancient Earth. The Kinai Maru deployed surveyal probes onto the two planets orbiting the sun and began scanning the gas fields in the periphery. The scientists were shocked to find that both planets had nearly breatheable atmopsheres. The closest to the sun, "Niiza" was found to be an arid world, suffering from scorching temperatures in the day, and frigid temperatures at night. "Miura" was found to be an arctic planet, with temperatures barely ever above the freezing point of water, even at the equator. Further analysis revealed that the surface was teeming with primitive life forms. After much deliberation in the GMG Administration and secretive talks with Kishiro Technologies, the decision was made to commence a full terraforming of Miura, scheduled for late 813 AS. In order to keep the development independent of the Kusari Government, the project was funded by Interspace Commerce. In return, Interspace would receive a 5% share of H-Fuel profits - and the right to build their own base in the system - Furyoku Station.
Teams of scientists surveyed Miura shortly after terraforming began. Geologists discovered abundant deposits of uranium and other metal underneath the surface in many regions. GMG and Kishiro immediately proposed a mining operation, even though terraforming was not yet completed. To reduce costs, the decision was made to use prisoners as a work force in the mines. A number of refineries were constructed on the surface, and shuttles began lifting regular shipments of Plutonium from the surface to the orbiting Kishiro station, Isehara Outpost.
In 814 AS, the GMG constructed Fujisawa Mining Facility and a number of Gas Miners in the Mintaka Hydrogen Field to provide terraforming gasses for Miura, and to meet the rising demand of HFuel in Sirius. The Mintaka proved to be GMG's greatest hydrogen find as it was the purest gas cloud they had found to date, coupled with efficient Kishiro technology, GMG is expecting a bright future ahead in it's H-fuel industry.
Sigma Trade Pact
In 817 AS, the Rheinland and Gas Miners Guild signed the Sigma Trade Pact, finally opening the border for trade and mutual security. More information here.

- GMG|Firstname.Lastname (Frighters/Transports) Note: Names should try to sound of Kusari Origin, special RP must be given for other name choices. Here's a suggested pool.
- GMG|GTS-Cityname (Transport names should be drawn from portnames on the the Sea of Okhotsk) (In either Russia or Japan). Use google maps to find port names. This is not essential but best for RP Purposes Examples: Location 1, Location 2, Location 3.
Alternatively, use this to translate words from English to Kusari.
-Maru (ship suffix) ("ma ROO")
For ships that require a crew to operate, the captain has the option of adding the suffix -Maru to the name of their ship (i.e: GMG|GTS-Raikoke-Maru). Generally viewed as superstitious, there are several reasons why the word is attached to GMG ships:
-(The most common): That ships were thought of as floating castles, and the word referred to the defensive "circles" or maru that protected the castle.
-That the suffix -maru is often applied to words representing something that is beloved, and sailors applied this suffix to their ships.
-That the term maru is used in divination and represents perfection or completeness, or the ship as a small world of its own.
-A legend of Hakudo Maru, a celestial being that came and taught humans how to build ships. It is said that the name maru is attached to a ship to secure celestial protection for it as it travels.
-It was intended to be used as a good hope naming convention that would allow the ship to leave port, travel the world, and return safely to home port: hence the complete circle arriving back to its origin unhurt.

Might GMG not be freindlier with bretonia now they are in conflict with Kusari? Especially as Bretonia is in desperate need of their H-Fuel and pays some of the highest prices in sirius. A very big business oppertunity.
