No, I agree. I am with you on this. :) If I had acquired Tizonas, then I double crossed Corsairs and ended up exploding as a result, then I probably shouldn't be using those guns - I acquired another make of my ship, but the guns were lost in space. Of course, not everyone will subscribe to hardline roleplay - they would rather come up with an emo catgirl excuse.
The last thing we need, however, is people posting blue messages to nullify tech permissions.
' Wrote:You want the "objective virtual reality" of the game? Here it is. Say I'm a merc. I've got tizonas. I feel contrary today so I wander past the neutron star, damaging my guns, then all the way to Freeport 10 for a drink. (That's Outcast space.) While I'm in the lounge, the northern zoner REPAIRS MY GUNS.
As a matter of fact, any base I can land on can fix them. Gallians, even.
Game was created at 2002 or 2003. The creators of game didn't perseed that in future people will build up such complex rp enviroment. Nor the game was made to be such. Your claims that it should be like you say based on game mechanics is meaningless.
For exmaple, I can shoot npc's as Liberty navy and loot Hornvipers mk II. It doesn't mean I can use them in terms of roleplay even if game mechanics allows me such. Get the point? Trying to justify mess in complexity of roleplay with flawed game mechanics is stupid.
And no. I wasn't shot by reavers with tizonas, nor my ship was destroyed by them.
And roleplay justification "well there is some traitor in at my enemy's camp who handles me stuff" is not sufficient. Since with such "rp" which is equivalent to "I found it" or "I stole it" everyone could fly with what they want without any restrictions. We have SRP for such instances.
Unlike some factions which doesn't give out anything to anyone becouse of this mess I'm trying to talk about, SRP closure is temporary.
This problem doesn't just touch those people who wants to keep their own stuff. No, it's everlasting stance, then some people who will want to have some technology from certain parties won't be avalible to get it. Not becouse of their flawed roleplay or bad intenstions, but just becouse someone made a mistake with rule regulations.
Well aren't I glad I made it GMG| policy from the very beginning that when we approved guns it was permanant even if used against us. True they probably couldn't recreate/repair specific GMG photons (which in RP are higher damage then average photon at higher energy consunmption) but I'm more then certain they can keep them jury rigged for quite a long time. Due to game mechanics we can't knock off %10 of their stats to reflect this imperfection of applying someone elses technology but I don't lose sleep over it. I'll just keep a high bounty on the target till the tech is dropped.

' Wrote:Actually, yeah, it is supposed to be out of the realm of possibility. In all of the Corsairs 800 year history, only one man has ever, canonically, left. And he got his ass hunted down and straight up murdered.
But this is disco, and try as hard as we can, we can't make anyone stick to canon or storyline.
Regardless of the quality of roleplay, hiring a merc group that has been hostile to you based on previous actions is a violation of Bounty Board rules and sanctionable.
Probably has something to do with the whole "your just a couple of mercs, not that important in the grandscheme of things" RP.
However, twelves or so guys represents a significant force OORP.
So.
Actually, no, it isn't. That is you saying it should because you want it that way. You can't decide what a players character is going to do, as such if a player feels his Corsair's role play takes him away from being loyal to the Empire first, he is free to do so.
That is your interpretation of the rule. The fact is, we've never been hostile per say to any group. To us it is business. Once pay for killing you stops coming, we don't care about you, thus we view you with a neutral outlook. Doesn't mean we won't defend ourselves.
Again, you interpret the rule one way and others interpret the rule another. You interpret it in a fashion that favors your argument. I interpret it in a way that favors mine.
If you truly feel it breaks the rules, instead of whining and making accusations, file a report.

Apply your logic consistently also.
When I kill you on your Corsair, you should lose the ship because I just destroyed it. You want that?
' Wrote:Anyhow, cool story bro(s)... yesterday in a fight I noticed that my own faction is being shot by my own factions guns. Now, call it how you want, but that looks like seriuos cluster***k of b.s. That doesn't make any freakin sense.
Don't you own an SRP'd Kraken Titan?
To be somewhat on topic though, nah, don't see much problem with that. Take world war 2 tanks for example. All sides used captured tanks against each other. American soldiers used AK-47s in Vietnam en masse. So... *shrugs*
