While that may be correct mostbunall times, I do see a tangential benefit from the practice.

"Third parties" can view feedback threads, while they "can't" view message dumps, communications, et al.

Thus, the curious get an opportunity to learn about the Faction in question, its' goals and raison d' etre.

They can also observe how the Faction "behaves" towards criticism.

They can still read the faction status thread. And nothing prevents players from reading message dumps and comms channel, as long as their characters don't take advantage from it.

Fine.

Back to practicing my English Prime, and searching new recipes for bok choy.

Feedback? Screw it. I can't skew anyone's reality tunnel unless it's open to skewage.

i tried both ways with my factions...and having a feedback thread is better imo.
By giving the moralizers a space where they can Q_Q about ones faction somehow keeps them away from the story and comm channel section. So you can actually do your thing while not being disturbed.

the other way would be without feedback thread, which mostly leads to some pent-up aggression which bursts into meta flaming attacks ingame and on comm channels etc.

feedback topics of one person stories is....well i dun see any sense in them. I ve never read a RP story (of a single char) which would have any influence for anyone else than that person. So why care about it at all?

If you closed them, lots of little threads would pop up each week.

I dont think theyre very beneficial to each faction, but collectivly they help maintain a centralized place for moderators to keep their eyes on.

I dont think they hurt the community or the factions any.

They are an option to leave your neutral, positive, negative or mixed two cents about a faction in an easily-accessable and overseeable manner for everyone involved. As a faction's member you get to easily find recent stuff being said about the faction you're a member in and get to respond to it right there as necessary, while as the non-member of the example faction you have a spot where you can put the aforementioned feedback and at least somewhat know that the addressed faction / faction members will actually read it.

But above all that they are a source of sometimes exceptionally [color=#FFFFFF]delicious entertainment

I agree with that one. Some may be flamepits, but at least you know where they are.

' Wrote:I think about 90% of feedback discussions ends in pointless rants that go way beyond the original point. If someone has a problem with a faction, they should take that to the faction leader (either with a PM or Skype). That way, issues can be resolved much more efficient and faster, without the popcorn public.

The endless discussion doesn't end because post people always want the last post on the matter to prove they're right. With a 1 to 1 conversation, the desire to prove themselves to the public on the forums isn't there, resulting in a much productive talk. I think a lot of negative feedback is also posted to get back at a faction, with a one-sided story for everyone to see.

Positive feedback can be posted in the kudo's thread, or again in a PM. So to sum it up, feedback belongs in PM's/Skype. Much more effective, much less flame-sensitive

I think he summed up my feelings on the matter. Though I like keep OSI's feedback thread open because I prefer to have our dirty laundry visible to the public and our resolution to cleaning that laundry visible to the public.

Yes, I'll admin when negative feedback is brought, I will be very skeptical of the person stating it at first. This is because I trust the members of my faction and their word is typically more trusted than someone I don't know. However, with solid proof and once I hear my members side of the story I try to resolve the issue as best I can. (Of course all feedback is discussed between the other 5 OSI leaders.)

If people are doing something wrong is ok to point it out, or if member of a faction misbehaved.

The main problem comes when the person who pointed out the problem doesn't agree with solution that faction in question brought.

Feedback threads are ok, they should be kept for people searching for information and for people who want to point out what faction is doing wrong by their own RP or by the rules.

Gank, u pirated me, I was petting my dog and you shot me, I was afk, you totally insulted me with that RP line, etc are idiotic in or outside factions feedbacks, but you can't stop it but explain your side of the story and continue living.

The main problem is when it derails in player hatred or just regular subtle insulting one another in feedback thread, but that's moderators problem;)
