Conclusion so far. Make transbars for every conceiveable type of encounter.
Edit: And those talking about that they have seen the picture of my character on where ever you found it, saying where you found it or suchlike is not on topic. Please go on topic, or leave this thread alone, thank you.
Skullz, this is now the second time the vast majority of the community has disagreed heavily with your views.. Both times you've called all of us idiots who don't know how to roleplay. No offense, but a lot of people here have been here longer than you, have been roleplaying for years, and do it very well.
You're also claiming that appearance doesn't effect roleplay, while appearance does effect real life. Role play is, by definition, a simulation of real life behavior and experiences, in a fictional context. I'm sorry, but you are wrong in thinking appearance plays no part. It plays just as big a part as it does in real life.

You can't count people mistaking you for 'Burg as being a distinctive change.

His post was 100% on-topic.
I say that from the viewpoint of a person and a moderator. The off-topic posts in this thread were already removed.
Ok, I see that people just want to take shots at me. I really find this pathetic. I also find that people not reading in to it, as many of you have only read it for 30 seconds (30 seconds is not enough time to read something properly, pathetic too.
Close this thread, or do whatever you want.
Edit: Am sorry Dab but I have made posts that are concieding what others have said and still I am getting **** thrown at me. I haven't argued with people. I have listened, and accepted and shown it, yet I still get told that I am not. lol. Pathetic.
Nobody's trying to take shots at you Skullz, I read through the original post, I'm pretty sure anyone who's posted anything worthwhile in this thread did, as nobody's come across as though they didn't (except in the removed posts. Sorry, :3). I'm sure people don't appreciate being called pathetic when they're just having a valid discussion with you and the other people on this forum.
And for the on topic I guess: If you don't want people to react a certain way you know they will when viewing a picture, use a different one, or omit the picture all together.

O well, seems am dreaming my experience. Looks like people take characterisation pictures way to seriously. lol
Why shouldn't we take it seriously? You maybe should dress yourself like a clown. I agree that clothes can say something about personality, but don't have to. I wouldn't mind much seeing a naked girl/boy talking over comm shortly after the shower; if it's in a hurry it's reasonable. On the other hand, if i see half naked captains on the bridge talking 'seriously', i begin to worry a bit. ^^
Otherwise till then, I have accepted others posts here, though I admit I do not respect some of the views. But Please stop telling me that I am argueing against it when I am not.
Having different opinion does not mean disliking you.
I for example would indeed make a hit as David Mahone, who is single, on a girl looking as your character. Call me pervert or so, but that what my character is, straight out man with sexual desires.
So your statement that people do not understand what roleplay means is simply straight out insult at community.
Though let's reflect on meaning of roleplay. To simulate a role and take place of created character yes?
' Wrote:Man, CAN PEOPLE SEE THAT I HAVE SAID THAT I HAVE ACCEPTED YOUR VIEWS. SO STOP TELLING ME AM TELLING YOU OTHERWISE.
READ DAMN IT
They are just saying their opinion on the matter. They are allowed to. It doesn't have to do with you having already accepted the view. They just want to have a discussion on the topic, not on whether you should or shouldn't.
Quote:So your statement that people do not understand what roleplay means is simply straight out insult at community.
What statement?
And I have said that it should seem to me with the views of the community that I should make multiply's of transbars. And yet I am being accused by Zelot that I only made this topic because I wanted people to roleplay differently.
Anyway as mentioned, am not gonna bother talking here in this thread till I am more calm over the matter of people saying I am saying this when it is not so. For now bye.
If you sent a government a picture of somebody almost with their clothes off, like that picture you used as an example, you should expect "put on some clothes" as the only response.
If it's not what the character is actually wearing, then it's what that character wants other characters to think about him or herself, for whatever reason. If this isn't the case, you're asking people for an out-of-roleplay understanding to be given about your character, which seems contradictory to your accusations that others don't know about roleplay.
So, if you want to use a picture of a person which is conveying a set of ideals, but then don't want others to take that as an in-roleplay characterisation of your persona, you should refrain from using pictures at all. I'd do this, rather than complaining about the only-logical reaction of others to the picture of a woman revealing most of her chest and stomach to the world. If you still want to use them, then write a biography and put them there.
The bottom line is that others wont change how they play or react because you think they should.
And of course, that you don't want people to judge your character because you as a player wanted to use a picture that appealed to your senses.
