I vote yes for this. In every space movie stars were not a problem for capital ship's shields. Since this is a game it have to be balanced for the players so they can have fun when playing the game.
The volume of an object goes up exponentially when compared to the surface area. So, a battleship might be larger, but the heat has much more to burn through. That's why area is squared while volume is cubed.
But the science of it is totally irrelevant, as damage to a fighter costs much less to repair than damage to a capital ship, something which I feel isn't reflected in the game.
Im in favour of proportional damage to all craft in the sun corona, if possible. If it isn't possible, then instakills for everybody.
It is true that it is a valid (and cowardly:P) tactic.
But so is cap spinning, ganking, misle spamming, base camping and dock killing. Yet people around here moslty have issues with those tactics. Hence my suggestion.
the prob is that now caps can sit in the sun and spam missles or wait for a rep ship all day long without a worry in the world. it's kinda like sitting in a jumphole being unable to get hit waiting for your buddies to come save you.
1000000000000000000000 damage\sec in last 2 of 3 sun areas, first zone will just make you know you'r too close to sun, then you go boom if you'r making your way further.
