If you've always wanted to try EVE, the world largest Online Science Fiction RP Game, they are now offering a 14 day free trial period. I've gone through two trial periods, uninstalling the first when the time ran out, and re loading it. and starting over with a new character.
It's situation is very similar to that of Freelancer, except it is much farther in the future, and really far far away.
game boasts over 5000 fully explorable solar systems, and it is a bit un-nerving to go on line and see over 40,000 players at one time. It averages just about 20,000 players at any given time.
I myself have been in a system that only had just over 300 players at the same time!
they have a great tutorial for beginners, that take you through the steps of getting around in the EVE universe, and some really hard missions, some i haven't been able to complete.
It has two different downloads, classic at over 600meg, and the Trinity at 1.2gig.
I will still come back to Freelancer, in some ways just not the same.
scruffy
I play on EVE, name is Zak Vanlor, currently i fly everything T1 Gallente and some Minmater ships. Also flying the Hulk, (massive ship built to mine)
I am in Gallente Mining and manufacturing, a small player corporation centered on the industries.
been playing now since December 2007
BUT: i love playing Freelancer, and my current character is the Finitey's End.
' Wrote:I can't play EVE... Its bores me. Completed the tutorials and tried a mission. I just miss the way fighting is in Freelancer.
This is because you haven't done level FOUR missions.. Trust me, they are not boring (until you have about 15 million skill points, one of the best battleships in the game, and 8 425mm prototyp Railguns with Magnetic Stabilizers that increase your damage by yet another 20%.. Then it can sometimes.. >.> )
Think; 16 battleships vs your battleship.. Thats level IV missions for ya. Or level V (5) missions where your fighting multiple Dreadnaughts and Carriers.. Yeah, that gets boring because your dead in 5 minutes..
And there is always 0.0 security space.. 200 vs 200 player fights with dreadnaugts, carriers, battleships, tech-2 cruisers and battlecruisers..
You can specialise in any number of ways for rewards. Mine, manufacture, invent, trade stuff in a supply and demand market, explore for hidden resources...or just be a jack of all trades.;)
It doesn't have to be all about PvP if you don't want it to be...although many don't seem to have patience for more than the "pew pew".
0.0 is supposedly a no rules sandbox. Only problem is most of the alliances do have rules such as NBSI(Not Blue Shoot It), which means it's not generally a very friendly place.
The great thing is you only need to grind for ISK(currency). Skills are time based and keep training when you're not playing.
If you earn enough ISK, you can buy game time from those who can't be bothered working for it.
