Well, it appears the Gaians are sliding from one fad to another. Evidently angry academic was too much hard work. I somewhat strongly suspect we'll be hearing Gaian deathmetal and self-piteous mewling about how the Man hates them and they're misunderstood some time soon. Emo Gaians? Hah.

The only Gaian Death Cult is going to be the Cult of GRN surveyors who rip Gaia open for raw minerals. You'll probably have a nice vantage point to see the planet die from where you are. See how you feel about the buggers then. At least Bretonia had the decency to keep BMM out of the place.
