I've been playing Freelancer since it was released but only came to Discovery a few months ago.
I only found the Freelancer Shots folder in My Pictures last week, I had been pasting each screen grab individually into Paint. I did wonder how people managed to do multiple grabs mid battle...
When .85 still was there and NPCs still had their CDs it took a while for me to notice, that it's possible to avoid the CD from them when EKing while on cruise speed. So I was able to pass them easily without being CDed.:D
Took a while.
If you travel through lanes and have an active navigational path, the beginning and the end of a lane will always be set as destinations.
Since the next destination is always shown in the left lower HUD window, you can always see how far it is to the end of the lane you are currently in.
If you want to know where exactly in the lane your ship is at a current time, all you need to do is to target the lane-gate you entered through in backview right after passing it (this is necessary, because you'll lose any active target in the lane).
You can then see in your HUD in a yellow color the distance from your entering point, and in purple the distance to the end of the lane.
The closer position will always be on top. So it will happen that exactly in the middle of the lane those two positions will change places.
