aye, i remember good old Weedalot telling a story, about "soloing" to libby carriers by flying between them, making them destroy eachother just enough for him to get the final shots... dunno if that story were true or not..
Bottom line is; dont position yourself in the crossfire
sorry but it clearly does not work perfectly, it needs to be tweeked to take accidental friendly fire as it makes no sense what soever, would you beat a friend to death if he bumped into you on accident? no? exactly my point.. if anyone said yes to that.. then they should not be roaming free in bublic

Gotta agree with that! Though judging by the posts of some folks on here, I wouldnt be so sure...

This makes no sense at all.
Especially if the target is cruising circles around station and you can do nothing, since CDing will count as damage output to station.
Not only is this one of the lowest "tactics"/behaviour, it is also obstructs the flow of interaction due to faulty game mechanics, where one side cannot perform their role properly.
Remember how people used to start cruising nearby friendly/neutral stationary battleships and how less experienced players used CD and got the battleship to unleash barrage on them? Does this make sense? No.
Would the station fire on its own security personnel which is trying to gun down the hostile? No, of course no.
Let's take example that is closer to you. Imagine Yorktown in engagement against hostile capital ships. You create unintentional crossfire when friendly gunboat chases after the bomber squad that is attacking Yorktown. Your 1 gun, be it solaris, touches that Gunboat. So what happens next? ALL friendlies around you start attacking Yorktown because you fired upon that gunbat. You go kaboom because of putting effort to gun down hostile.
Do you think it works perfectly in such case?
saw this happen again this morning b4 i left for work, a pirate was circling tombstone in tau 23 as he new i could not fire at him or he was hoping that i was not aware of this exploit in the hope that the base would drop me as soon as i fired at him.. needless to say i just few back to java disgusted at the tactic which makes no sense what so ever rp wise as im there to defend the mase.. as snac says, its a complete abuse of the game mechanics and im now starting to think that its the ppl who use think the system is fine as is are the very pirates who use this sad tactic
