And another +1.

I don't really care what the Karlotta alt says, I've been dealing with PC's for longer than just about anyone on here has been alive. Friends don't let friends use Nortons AV.

There's a reason why one of the first things done with a new retail computer install is that the bloatware - including Nortons - is deleted, and something like MacAffee's or other REPUTABLE anti-virus software that won't actually take over your computer and do stuff that you don't want it to do (like deleting the freelancer.exe file) is installed.

Not to say that everything that Nortons produces is a piece of junk ... ... wait, I'm trying to think of anything besides maybe Ghost that isn't a piece of junk ...

Same hapened last update. Just go into norton before, and set it to allow Freelancer.exe. It defaults to auto.

Thanks for the tip, but I'll keep my Norton. If you're using something else, good luck :laugh:When your antivirus program tells you there is something fishy going on and you just ignore it, you deserve all the bad things that happen.
Norton is definitively not number one. Seriously. Anyone who works with computers will tell you to delete it and put something else. Okay, maybe it's a number one seller simply because it's already on the computer when you buy it and people assume it's good. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but really, get something like Microsoft Security Essentials instead. It won't be as annoying and it still picks up anything harmful to your computer.

I got norton, and Microsoft Security Essentials. And sorry but MSE has missed alot that Norton caught. Thing is Norton has a ton of different versions. Use the cheap versions and you get what you pay for. Just like anything else. Also you need to go into Norton and fine tune it for your uses. After you fine tune it, it works wonders. Yes sometimes it is overly protective, but better that, then not protective enough. I have used every single anti virus/spyware/adware program on the market. Sorry to say it, but norton so far is the best at catching everything. Atleast the high end version i use. Buy cheap, or use free stuff at your own risk.

What's happening is quite straight forward - Norton's sees the freelancer.exe change during the upgrade and complains. One way around this is to do a full install of Discovery.

Yeah happened here too after the update, unfortunately copying the exe file and replacing it makes the game thing the version is out of date and the auto updater fails to work after that. Re-downloading the mod now... actually let me ask people on skype for a replacement exe file

Norton AV is the worst virus after Windows.

On Norton 360 go into settings

Then Antivirus and go into the Scans and Risks tab, go down to the bottom with the Exclusions / Low Risk areas and add your discovery FL exe file and your entire discovery folder to both scan exclusions and sonar exclusions and apply the changes

Rated where? There are a thousand different websites with their own reviews, which are also sponsored by various anti-virus companies.

Before Norton, I'd choose either BitDefender or Kaspersky.
