so, Gallia is the elephant in the room - everyone knows that most events on a large scale are supposed to be oriented towards the war, but the player base is lacking to carry it through on the server. This creates an awkward problem in the discrepancies between script and actual gameplay situation, severely inhibiting the integrity of the RP of most factions in the game.
So I wanted to open this thread to have a running debate on what can be done to remedy the situation. Any ideas, really - they don't happen to be fully thought through, but realistic/viable though in regards to tying Gallia in with the rest of Discovery (ie. no "delete Gallia" because it's just not going to happen). The Gallia-issue should be adressed and fixed, as it is a shame to let so much work, care, attention to detail and ample opportunity for players to have fun go to waste.
So I'll go first with an idea: Gallia seems to be locked in the sense that they are pitted against more or less everyone on the server: Their political RP more or less solely set on domitation/powerplay of everyone and everything and their PVP set on being a legitimate target for ganking by any and all. OP ships still lose when outnumbered and outmatched, plus having an ID that might be harder to RP than other ID's (requires knowledge of and interest in French culture, language and history) doesn't improve things either.
What if Gallia had a Sirius ally to provide both opportunity for more nuanced political RP and a widened player base fighting for/with Gallia? I was thinking about the Colonials - there's been talk of a purge and other OORP actions, so a radical retcon in Colonial lore doesn't seem like a gross violation by comparison, and changing Colonial allegiances yet again won't upset the established relationships between the major political powers in Sirius as a whole too much, except for hopefully making the "Gallic threat" less of an imaginary scenario played out by NPC patrols in Leeds. This could eventually serve as a means for Colonial players to get a peek at Gallic RP and thus make it easier for these players to create Gallic OP characters that they enjoy to RP, and thus promoting integration between Gallia and the rest of the Disco world at a player level.
Comments, yes/no's or preferably other/better ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I like the idea of havving an ally but i dont think that colonial will be an option. Why? If im correct then colonials are lost thier home to gallia and now they are one of the three exiles ( council, colonials, kusari exiles). It will be better that if they allied with bretornia with other exiles.
However i think the best feasble will be corsairs. Sairs have good player base. Enemy of bretornia and currently trying to set a foot hold on chembridge. As bretornia is already friendly with oc and molly against sair and gallia this senario is feasble too.
The only problem is sairs are pirates and dab will never do allience with pirates i think. But if we back track in the case of sleeper ships then we can at least we have a point. They were like the houses each with thier sleeper ships. The others have taken good resourceful sectors and leaving the hispanics no choice but to land on distant land. They are not pirate by origin.. They are forced to do this for leaving. Allying with such clans who similarly betrayed by sirius people wont be bad move i think.
Sorry to be so useless to the thread but, what is the fundamental flaw with Gallia?
This wasn't meant to provoke thought or anything, it's just that i haven't really been here much since 4.84 and i didn't get chance to see it's launch or the player response, and I haven't seen much of it myself. Are people too afraid to RP in Gallia because it's too unknown? Do they just not care about it? Is it a big French mess of ugly ships, obnoxious pilots and smelly space cheese?

It's not about the unknown. I know NPCs used to rape everything in there. Gallia is isolated, huge, systems are large which lowers the player density significantly. It just takes forever to get from one end to the other.
' Wrote:Gallia IS the twist. The twist in the plot of the whole of sirius' history. Nobody saw it coming and now we're seeing things unfold uncertainly.
The problem is simple.
225 players - 152 systems
Gallia as it stands is poorly implemented, as Dodike said. So they can't really pull off being a twist in their current state.
Imo: gallia is more of a plot element than a gameplay element. Gallia is more of a 'come play our rad mod' thing than a gameplay thing. It's entrances, layout, insular-ness (...), etc are not at all designed from a gameplay point of view. It would take huge, wholesale changes.
The other option is to add gallic brigands docking rings to every planet.
