The concept is basically a Private Military Company. A company hiring only ex-military personal from the five houses. All using their own ships/equipment from their past military careers should they chose to. Nationality is thrown out of the window, hostilities between the individuals have ceased, they now work together, for whomever the contractor is. Be it a security detail for a company, a support detail for a paying military or hunting the bounty. A professional, clean, effective private military/security company just following the money.
Thoughts? Does this have a place?
Also, what ID would it use? IFF? HQ? Input wanted.

That sounds like it'd be a Freelancer ID'd/IFF'd group.
But we already have dedicated mercenary organisations...
PMC's are usually tied to a nation or in this case, house.
We're basically talking about (in a military point of view) second tier forces that will basically plug the holes that the regular army forces don't want to plug.
And i don't mean front line duty.
I am talking about security, escorts, etc.
PMC's aren't Mercenary Companies as the ReaveMerc. Co. or Mandalorian Mercenaries.
Those two are basically special duty workforce (hunting a specified target, executing hard case jobs that the regular army forces can't be caught doing like intelligence and deep strikes).
Since murdersauce is their choice flavor, they also are known to field the front lines, often working on their own to disrupt the enemy lines (Hamburg saw that kind of action from both Merc Companies).
People can argue that there is the question of loyalty when talking about Merc Companies.
There isn't.
There isn't a loyalty issue (in the Reaver case, mostly.)
Because it's just a contract between two parties that has a beginning and an end.
They get paid by contract, bounty board or a single target hit.
And normally they have 5-10-20 contracts at the same time.
Much diferently is the PMC's.
They would have one, two at the max, long standing contract.
They would have loyalty issues.
They would probably use the same military grade weaponry.
They would have more numbers than a Mercenary Company.
Basic diferences that the regular Freelancer Mercenary ID does not take into consideration.
The whole faction proposal would have to be very well drafted.
If you're going for the whole PMC with ex-Military doing bounties and basically the same job as the Reaver Merc. Co. and Mandalorian Mercenaries i can point you SMP for instance.
Dunno if they are still around. There was a good price on their heads in the Omegas.

[12:12:00] Traxit: this is smut stop
Well, in .85 it was possible with the BHG/Core ID (EDGE was an attempt to make one, as example) Now, since BHG guild does not have the Guard ID de-jure and de-facto (since Core is something totally different, unlike in 85), there's no possibility to create a full-fledged PMC.
If you will use Freelancer/Merc IDs, you will be down to same non-military grade equipment as all other merc groups (xcept for Reavers/MM, dunno what tech restrictions they have now), and you won't have loyalty/reputation issues the PMC would have. (like being strictly lawful (or unlawful), for example)
Could try BHG ID, since they're apparently getting green cells to LN and BAF tech and yellow cell to RM tech. That would exclude Kusari and Gallia though.
