Hi is there any way to see how much cargo space weapons and equipment take up? I tried flipping though FLstat and FLcompanion but didnt find anything useful.
Not directly. It is not a parameter the game includes on the stat infocard (which is automatically generated). We could add it manually, but that's a lot of work to do. Simplest solution for now is to use an application like FLStat, you'll want to check the "Volume" parameter.

Thanks, it's not super important, yet relevant when equipping ships with devices using fuel. But for some reason in FLstat (v. 1.0.0.5) I don't get the "Volume" stat. Are there other applications out there which lists "Volume"?
You can figure it out by looking at the available cargo and trading equipment off the ship. You can see the amount of available cargo by holding your mouse over the little meter bar in the inventory screen, it will say N units available out of N capacity.
It would be ncie if the infocards for the individiaul equipment showed their volume consumption. Then we could at least look at the gun, oh it uses 10 cargo, instead of having to switch to another app.
External equipment like guns, shields, thruster shouldn't take the cargo space at all like it was in 85. That's nonsence that a gun which is mounted on the side of the ship is taking up a place inside the ship. Would a side mirror take up a car's baggage space? That's just wrong... Sorry for off topicing but I didn't want to spam the forums with a new thread.

A wing mirror is a bit simpler than the sort of technology these weapons run on. The RP explanation is likely the added mass of internal systems required for more advanced equipment: control motherboards, heat sinks etc.
