I used laptop with WAP for 2 hours, it transfered over 5 times more than using Opera Mobile for 2 weeks.
So unless you get no limit or cheap net,you can either use WiFi, USB or maybe Bluetooth to make Mobile as router for computer.
Then i am at work i use my phone as modem and play the disco on my nout)) i am not sure how much traffic it takes but i have a limit of 2 gbs and i don't yet passed it:D

This pretty clearly says he's using a mobile internet connection on a computer.
As for the mode of tethering, Cable > Bluetooth > WiFi for a single device. This is quite simply by power use. Now if you do what I do and have a mobile hotspot with large external antennas wired to your car, the battery life tends not to be an issue. But for most phones, remember that when you use bluetooth or wifi you are running two radios: one for the internet connection and one for your PAN/WLAN.
Yeah. He said he's using tethered mobile internet; which means he's sharing his phone's connection with his PC. I used to do that myself, and the only thing you can really do is turn off images.
