The Bretonian Armed Forces is run by an 'Admiralty' (who is namely me, and whoever else is making decisions with me at the time, may or may not become an RP group like the Corsair Elders) The Admiralty are all admirals, (duh) and do not participate in combat (that means they do not command ships, people). Ingame, ranks will be: Commodore (commands flotillas) Captains (commands (cap)ships) Commanders, LT Commanders, LT, Sub-LT, and Ensigns.
There will be 3 commodores, as there are 3 branches, currently, Each commodore has permission for a battleship.
The commodores are: Myself, commanding what is currently the QCO, Blunt, commanding what is currently the QCP, and either Stratus or Kiggles (whichever has seniority) commanding what is now the SF.
QCP will continue to be fighters (and a possible Royal Liner Flagship, once they pirate 110 million) only, while the Assault and Defense Fleets will each have 1 bs, 2 Dessi/CR, 4 GB MAX.
Before the Capital class positions are filled, I will want to see more Fighters....many more.
I will demand that each and every player have both a LF and either a Temp or a Champion, kitted out with exclusively Bretonian guns (for the heavies and bombers, a few (less than 3, preferably none) codes are acceptable, as are nomad guns (though they are frowned upon, and I will be prejudiced against a character flying them.
I am not sure what to call the faction as of yet, (just BAF is rather bland and bandwagonish.) and as such, it is open to debate. (keeping the name SF is not)
I am partial to the QCO naming convetions: for fighters [tag]Firstname.Lastname for capships [tag]OneWord. (precedents are Pendragon, Matchless, Defiance)
This is of course open to debate, both here, and in the longstanding Bretonian Skype Chat.
I know you said no one who isn't in SF to post here, i was once in SF if that counts?:P
But anyway i think this is actually a good thing for Bretionia. Ive wanted to see it flying under one banner for awhile now and hopefully it will breath new life into a fairly inactive sector of space.
A note: names should be British-sounding, and capship names should have history behind them. I did a lot of searching before I chose "Defiance" for the name of my gunboat; it's a storied name, including at least one actual "wet" gunboat. Bretonia is steeped in history, so the capship names ought to be as well.
I agree, would like to see all of our capships most certainly named after the Royal navy ships of today and yesteryear. Flagship should according to tradition be the HMS Victory (even though the last time is was sailed was at the battle of trafalgar it is still the royal navy's flagship) others could be Ark Royal, Ocean, Invincible, Illustrious. If you need any thing to help you with naming ask me. Royal Navy is a passion of mine. But so far looks good:D
I dislike 6 letter tags, to be honest. Bloody awkward. This may seem QCO-centric, but that's the way of things.
Tags as follows...
QCO = Queen Carina's Own (Assault flotilla, as is just now)
QCP = Queen Carina's Privateers (Privateers, as is just now)
QCG = Queen Carina's Guard (Defensive flotilla, renaming of the SF)
Right, should this idea be accepted, QCG pilots should aim towards gettng themselves full green to the BAF Guard. They are the ones favoured by the Admiralty as a whole, the more traditional bunch, hence aiming for the prestigious Guard bars. They'd have something of a rivalry with the more offensive QCO and the less upstanding QCP.
However, whilst one may be defensive and the other offensive, they could still call on the others for help.
I partially agree with Dieter. Though not SF/QCO, I would like to suggest this arrangement, though it is entirely up to Unselie to decide;
For normal fighters;
[BAF]-FirstName.LastName or [BAF]-LastName
For Privateer fighters;
[QCP]-FirstName.LastName or [QCP]-LastName
For Guard fighters;
[BAF-G]-FirstName.LastName or [BAF-G]-LastName
For Prison Ships;
[BAF]-BPL-Oneword
For Medical Ships;
[BAF]-BMS-Oneword
For Research Vessels;
[BAF]-CRI-Oneword
For Capital Ships;
[BAF]-BAF-Oneword
Plus, QCO are an assault fleet. That there seems to imply guards are better.
Also, the less name changes the better. I hate those things. Considering that the Admiral isn't accepting SF as a name, may as well keep the rest as is.
