The taxi pulled up outside the Rolling Stone. They weren’t late, but Jasmine Greenson thought they probably were.
“Right, so, just relax and have a good time. It’ll be nice.” She said, in a vaguely hurried manner. Jasmine had taken the recovering Natalie Cahoone under her wing. She was a nice girl, she thought, but this probably wasn’t going to be an easy night.
‘Don’t drink too much, Jas' she thought to herself as she climbed out of the cab, waiting for Natalie to follow her.
Natalie looked through the window for some moments, it had been a long time since she had the chance for something like this, but instead of happiness she only felt nervousness. She sighed and left the cab.
“Do you think this is such a good idea?” She asked Greenson. “I mean, the last time I’ve seen them, it didn’t really end well...”
“Honestly Nat, I’m sure it’ll be fine. They’ll at least understand that things were a little... Different then.” She paused and looked at Natalie with a smile. “Just don’t get horrendously drunk... If you don’t want to talk to someone, you don’t have to, and if you feel like leaving at any point, then we can just go. No pressure. Just enjoy yourself.”
Greenson turned and walked into the slowly filling venue, she glanced around for friendly faces and weaved her way through the gathering crowd towards the bar.
“What’re you drinking, Nat?”
'She seems to care more about me than for herself. I feel myself like an obstacle...' Natalie thought while she had followed Greenson to the bar. She could not really remember any of the people there, she was not really focused on it.
“Uhmm...something strong. I don’t really care what it is.”
Before Nat had answered, Jasmine handed her a full glass before grinning and turning around to see who else was there.
Alexis did a double-take at the two purple-haired women. Sighing, she resumed conversing with Cat. So far, she was having a good time - of course...she really wanted to hug Cat, but... I hate having to keep it a secret...but her happiness mattered to.
Alexis downed her glass and switched to a soda. No need to get drunk.
That was around the time she saw Greenson enter...followed by Natalie.
Frowning slightly in a bit of reminiscing, then smiling, Alexis waited for Greenson and Natalie to get closer before swivelling around on her stool snd stsnding up. She moved over to Nat and a slow pace so the other woman saw her coming.
When she got to Natalie, Alexis gently tapped her shoulder. "Hey Nat."
Natalie took a sip from the glass Greenson has given her.'Impressive how I nearly forgot how that stuff tasted.' She thought while she looked at the liquid in the glass. All that stuff made her sad and only strengthened her wish of having a normal life again. 'One day, Natalie. One day...' Were her thoughts.
"Hello Alexis." Natalie suddenly said and looked at Alexis. She remembered the circumstances under which those two have met each other the last time. It had been a while ago but it felt as if it happened yesterday. 'One of us could have died out there.' Natalie thought while she remembered how she was involved in a battle with Alexis and some other people from the Navy.
Rohj stepped out of his car, and proceeded to the front doors of the Rolling Stones. Along the way, he fiddled with his old-fashioned pocket watch, which wasn't working. He merely thought "Oh, wonderful," but he put that thought aside as he opened the doors.
Walking in, Teerin spotted a few friends. As he meanderied his way to the bar, Rohj noticed the bartender was looking a bit irritated. Ignoring that, he ordered a scotch. After it was served, he took a seat next to Clark and spoke, "Good evening, Jorzza. Enjoying the party?"
Alexis smiled. "Good to see you again." Alexis' smile was warm. She purposely avoided any discussion about that day. Alexis glanced at Nat's drink, reflexively taking a sip of her own soda. She glanced back at Cat, then resumed focusing her attention on Nat. Her friend looked a bit tired...or it was just her own maternal instincts kicking in again for no reason.
Alexis was a bit nervous around Nat...but she had gained practice hiding it well behind a smile.
Alexis leaned around quickly to look at Greenson. "Hello...Jasmine." she said a bit tenetively.
Catherine glared around the bar as more and more people arrive, some faces familiar, some not as much. She was glad that no one except Alexis and Dimitrova has greeted her yet, since she wasn't in the best mood for pointless chit-chat.
She nudges Alexis somewhat"Enjoying yourself yet?"She whispered to her, the question meant somewhat ironic at this point.
"Oh hey Alexis." Jasmine smiled, noticing her being nudged by Catherine. "Hi Catherine."
She took a sip of her drink and looked at the glass momentarily.
"Anyone got any idea what Mehndi actually has planned? I saw this on the notice board in the canteen at Bragg and thought it'd be good to get out of the base for a while, but I realised that I have absolutely no idea what this is all about." She grinned. "Might be for the best if I just wait and see, I suppose."
Alexis looked over her shoulder to Catherine.
"You know I'd prefer not to keep it a secret." She whispered back. "But so far, I'm happy."
Smiling, she turned her head back towards Jasmine. "Dunno myself...but I just pray that it doesn't't involve a can-can coupled by a long Navy rendition of 'tunak tunak tunak'."
Alexis giggled softly, bushing hair from her eyes.
Clark sat on a stool leaning up against the bar, facing the crowd. He brought his glass of scotch up to his eye level and watched the crowd through the glasses distortion. "Good evening, Jorzza. Enjoying the party?" a voice said, snapping Jorzza out of his focus. Clark took a sip from his glass of scotch and looked at the person who had just spoke. "An' a good even'en to you. Let me tell you, i have no idea what i am even doing here. Hows about yourself?" Clark said.
Teerin grinned for a moment, then shrugged, responding, "I heard that there was some sort of party, so I figured, why not." He took a sip from his scotch and continued, "It's also nice to talk to your colleagues on an informal basis."
Rohj glanced around the room. There were quite a few people here now, but Mehndi was not to be seen. Teerin asked, "Say, where's our host?"
