simple ... "what if lets say ... Cryer ... developed a medicine to heal cardamine addiction? .. and distributed it throughout the most civilized house space"
like ... a very expensive drug, possibly contraband to carry for all but contracted cooperations with a high reputation.
would that lead the outcasts on a warpath against a rather unlikely enemy? would it be a cooperate competition like outcasts trying to coerce cryer?
just a quick idea i had before my morning coffee ... which might lead to a higher outcast activity that is not centered around simply pvping vanilla enemies.
such a valuable substance might even be made on cryer playerbases only and lead to a new smuggling for minor factions that don t quite mind the outcasts drug cartel that much
They already DO hate Cryer with a vengeance due to synth weed. For the longest time I attempted to target Cryer ships, but with Cryer's activity level being lower than that of the Outcasts, it is somewhat difficult. Also with the general consensus being that Cardamine alters the genetical structure of the user, it is hard to imagine a cure per se.
EDIT: In real life, genetical disorders are for the most part impossible to treat. In those rare cases where it is possible, it is done through marrow transplants (i.e. replacing the defect/altered genes) and not merely through popping a pill.
Personally, I'd assume the Outcasts would end up targeting Cryer specifically, and inciting all their allies to do the same. Since the availability of a Cardi substitute would tank the smuggling profits of the LR, LH, Outcasts, Junkers and GC, neither of those factions will be happy with Cryer. I'd go so far as to say that the existance of a Cardamine alternative threatens the existance of the Outcasts as a power in Sirius
Mimir: This substitute would not cure the Cardi addiction, but it would instead offer a lawful alternative to survive on. It severs the dependency on the Outcasts for all Cardi production.

Cryer is more likely to go the other way and make a synthetic Cardamine drug, at least that's what I remember of Vanilla infocards. It'd probably be more interesting a hypothetical, too. But maybe that's just me.
Alright, I dig that. That would be very plausible, and lead to a definite decline in Outcast power as well as create a scenario much akin to the methadone/heroin situation a lot of western countries experiment with atm - however there are a lot of moral issues for governments to deal with when it comes to substitutes.
EDIT: However there are a lot of drawbacks to using substitutes too. Here in my country there's been a lot of trouble with people getting more addicted to the substitute (methadone) than they ever were to the primary drug (heroin), so the most positive results have actually come from state-ordained drugs (heroin in this case). That might be a more viable solution in the Disco-verse too: State-ordained Cardamine.

As already stated, vanilla infocards say that OC's were working with Cryer to find a cure I believe, but eventually they found out Cryer was looking for a way to synthesize the stuff and sell it themselves legally, hence hate.
It's worth noting that Cryer is already public enemy number... Three? Maybe? For the Outcasts. Right behind the Corsairs and some guy who borrowed their WHAM album back in '94 and then moved to Portland.
That turd.
The 'Casts have a litany of good reasons to log in to pew. They've also a storied history of wild eyed frothing leadership pointing them in self destructive directions. With the closure of easy access between Gamma and Alpha (due to the bodies in both houses feeling that Omicron Gamma and Alpha are the only systems in game which should never be attacked ever, because they're special and magical and float in unicorn milk) coupled with a caustic attitude toward indie kind... Welp, the labor pool somewhat dried up.
If a charismatic fellow with a head on his shoulders decides to step in and start lobbing assaults towards (non Liberty) neighbors and making noise of good times while doing so you'll see a resurgence in activity, I'm sure.
Or write a lore article about how Planetform boinked their sister. THAT'll get the motor running. Also it has the side benefit of being less derp.

answer is simple.
If cryer managed to do that, they would find more angry dreadnoughts on their doorsteps then any mercfleet they can hire, can handle.
Also, cryer already are working on it, this is what the fight over Atka was about. Cryer wanting to destroy the cardamine trade, then corsairs wanting to profit from its destruction, then sairs and casts battling in sigmas.
Cryer is part of the reason sairs and casts fight, thats why they are considered enemy nr 2, after sairs.
