And now you fail to even acknowledge my points. Either you have nothing to counter it, or you feel that you're above answering in your own proposal thread.

Gentelford is correct on many points.
Also indie Pirates isnt liked much even by Corsairs/Outcasts.
Not to tell how imballancing it will be if Pirates will have big arsenal with its Sirius/Gallia wide ZOI and now laws to follow like Corsairs do.

If such is the case, then FL ID shouldn't be green to random corporations either. This is my point.

And Gentlefood, since your points lack any sort of advancing VALID counter argument to mine (since yours was already addressed prior hand) I had no reason to speak back to you. You're points were either incorrect, already dealt to, or didn't have an effect to the matter at hand. Furthering that path of conversation would be like trying to have a conversation with a cardboard box on what it thinks about the current economic situation in the United States. EG: Useless. I don't fail to acknowledge your points, I acknowledge them and understand what you said, and wont waist my time with it as it was already addressed.

Both IDs have freedoms that allow for just as much damage on either side. It's that simple.

Pirate ID has both Civ and BW ships at 100%. That's where the green (blue) cells are.

There was a sig here, once.

If that were true, a simpler way would have been to simply quote where you had previously answered the questions. However considering I see a distinct lack of answers for the questions and points I brought up, I can understand why you decided to not go with that.

But to clarify upon my position.

Freelancer ID comes with far more restrictions on it than the Pirate ID when it comes down to who gets to shoot what when. Properly set up, the FL ID within its limitations can shoot a predetermined group of people whenever he feels like with an unlimited ZOI. Improperly set up the FL ID is worthless for shooting.

The Pirate ID however does not come with such restrictions as documentation and such. Its restrictions are quite lax in that it must simply make -any- form of demand and so long as it isn't met, combat may be initiated. Its even easier now that there's the 'running' clause that allows a pirate to shoot a fleeing ship. Again with an unlimited ZOI. There is no setup required.

It also should be acknowledged that the FL ID is a bit strange at the moment since its currently filling in the gaps of about four or five IDs. This causes some of the strange "Tech Chart" things that you're complaining about. And honestly I wouldn't -mind- the FL ID getting the faction tech removed from it. But the Pirate ID certainly doesn't need it because the Freelancer ID has it, that's a logical fallacy.

Alright, I can see what you mean.

If anything, I'd like to see those 3 green cells go away (after all the FL ID also has 14 extra yellow cells as-well, making it have a total of 17 extra tech slots that the Pirate ID doesn't even have).

Let me turn this around:
What tech, aside from true civilian, and true borderworld, should true unaffiliated pirates be using with practically no drawbacks? Certainly no other pirate factions, since they are competition to them. An indy pirate using Rogue tech might just as well be a Rogue in Liberty. If your intent is to take Rogue tech outside of Liberty (IE use a different ID to evade the ZoI restrictions) then expect there to be some form of a drawback to mitigate that. Otherwise, why would anyone still play a Liberty Rogue? The Pirate ID would trump it in every way... The same goes for most unlawful factions.

But what about the generic neutrals? IMG, Zoner, GMG. These are all lawful factions who don't want the houses breathing down their necks. Supplying known pirates tends to not help with that. Sure, there are SPECIFIC unlawful groups that some of these factions support, and this is reflected in the configuration. Which again comes down to "if you want the tech, get the ID for the role you're playing".

Most of this should become moot in 4.87 though. Civilian and Borderworlds gunboats should offer indy pirates (and civvies) more choices then the heavy Kusari Explorer. There are already plenty of fighters, bombers, freighters and transports for them to pick from. They won't ever get cruisers.
