Welcome to discovery, forget all that nonsense about penguins. Only animal you ever need to care about is the alpaca. Lovely thing, fur as warm as the sun, gentle like a breeze, down side is they smell like the underside of s rotting banana:)
I have not insulted the penguins, since I hold a dear place in my heart for them (the reason why is clearly unknown, perhaps you intimidate me? Oh well, a few more credits to a therapist then...). I also clearly enjoy ninja penguins, since stealth penguins are a stabple in video-game industry since it's early days. Who can forget the Ninja Penguin ... aaa .... boss, in Super Mario? The evil Ninja Penguin ... in ... aaa ... Final Fantasy VII... or the Ninja Penguin ... aaa ... enemy ... in ... Tetris? The possibilities are endless. I also cannot continue without mentioning the suricata as a possible contender. There is something undeniably evil about these small mammals....
I'm losing myself here. Back to topic.
Thank you all for the warm welcome. I cannot help to think that my stay here will be most enjoyable. My first experience with the game is flying around doing Missions and generally trading. I'm not in a hurry ... I know I could find one or two comfortable trade lanes and just run them trought, but ... that's simply not fun. You don't ran into interesting people, and the most pleasurable aqcuaintace you can strike is with those scary looking robots that accept your request to dock with planets (don't they look a little too much with a HK-47 droid from Star Wars: The Sith Lords ... you know ..... the creepy ones?). I find it more pleasurable to make my presence felt, other that my presence merely "found". I haven't found the opportunity to engage in some serious Roleplaying conversations since most of what I can find is mainly players annoucing the arrival of Battlecruisers or Convoys.
Time will tell. Time will tell.
I'm going to the basement not, to clean the pelvis. It's not murder. Yeah. It's art. "Nouveau Art". Some new liberal thing... plus, she came home with me voluntarily...

I am an ambassador of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Penguins Republics, our premier Pengu greets you welcome on the server and hopes you get brainwashed by communist propaganda!
Welcome. I'm currently a Liberty Navy pilot, might be something to keep your eyes open to...(we're somewhat in short supply these days. Pirates...Sheesh.)
As another new player to Disco online, I'd say to stick with a few buddies, and don't be afraid to call for help from another player if ambushed. (Unless it's those commie penguins...)
But seriously, have fun, obey the rules, and Don't. Get. The. Admins. Mad. Worst idea possible, except maybe flying a freighter loaded with codies into a minefield without a shield...But that's just me.
Zealot Wrote:Just go play the game and have fun dammit.
Treewyrm Wrote:all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.
Thank everyone for the warmest welcomed I've ever had. It's specially good to see the interaction between players, friendly, sportive but yet, not that competitive. I still blame in most other online games the excessive amount of repetitive-rewarding gameplay (raids, gigantic boss fighters, unique-item search) has an online-gaming destroyer. I just want to do some trading, some missions, some-all around gameplay. I also want to do some sight-seeing ... it's been a while since I've explored every system, seen every star, every nebula. Strangely, there is something oddly relaxing about Freelancer. Just flying.
Xing, I greet Pengu with a large amount of respect. There is something about scythe and hammer-wielding pinguins you gotta love. Boss, good to hear from someone so new in the server. Thanks you and everyone for the welcome.
Well, I do have some questions ... what should I do first? A friend of mine managed to help me get some credits, and I bought a Keshen Light Fighter (I think this is the name, it is a white, small, "egg"-shaped ship) and some weaponry. But I also heard the Defender might be a better option. Which ship should I choose? What weaponry? More Rapid Fire, Stunpulse, Pyro? Also, any good trade-routes, or missions I should take? Should I adress any group?
I'm sorry, I don't even know if this is the place to ask these questions ...
