I have created this thread due to some question I have and also some help about to make a proper loadout for my Carrier.
My current loadout is :
3x Cerb
2x missiles
Rest are primary and secondary
Armored with cau6
My cargo having some crew , h-fuel and things like that to roleplay (not necessary I know)
I would like to know if you can share some good loadout to help me like missions killing or Npc killing and a proper loadout for survive in a roleplay fight ( I mean against player).
Some newbs question
1. As Carrier I think Docking bay could be a great option for roleplay and some operation. What do you think about docking bay ?
2. I'm also looking for hyperspatial module wich one you would choise for a carrier ?
2.1 Whats the differance with the Jump drive module series and the hyperspace survey module ? I know they are on Wiki but I need some opinion on this
3. How to maximise the energy of my ships to be efficient in shooting ?
4. I'm using Hidamari sound mod does I risk any ban using this ?
4.1 Also I've seen there is differant game hud is that risky too ?
I had a carrier and I am here to answer your questions.
Load out, it depends how you play. If you play attacker, go for all cerbs, all prims and all secondaries. If you play as support, put a mortar or 2 and/ or a missile or 2. Solarisis are only really good at driving bombers away. Oh and you MUST have at least 2, but no more then 4 flaks to get ride of missiles and Novas
1) For RP it would be a good thing as a carrier should be able to carrier fighters. It is not necessary though.
2) anyone. It dosnt really matter as long as you have a supplier for the Mk3
2.1) jump drives have different jump speeds. Mk1 is the slowest, single jump (only jumps you) mk2 jumps you in about jumps faster then mk1 secs, takes less cargo but it costs more to buy. The mk3 jumps faster and takes less cargo. The Mk4 takes quite alot of fuel, you are going to need another ship to fuel you but it can jump several ships at once. The hyperspace scanner/surveyor scans coordinates for the jump drive to use. You have one thats scans up to 70k away from scanning point, 50 and 30k I believe
3) dont use every single gun at once. It will put your accuracy off completely. You also lose alot of energy quickly. Thats the only advice for you there
4) If it has been aproved, no. But if it hasnt been aproved then you run the risk. Id uninstall it and ask an admin first about it
Thanks for all you reply its look like the sound mods have been lot of approuval without ban risk. Also I don't understand why graphical mod make any risk for cheating but I can understand this modify any file can broke the mod.
For the carrier ladout I'll see my own and use your tips thank.
Well good start is to buy Dread. I would never fly the carrier without group since it is good for support only.
Also for all base produced stuff you can check the tutorial: http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=80349

Ye, carrier is a bad ship for soloing. It's huge and lacks forward firepower compared to other heavy ships.
Get a libdread if you want to be succesful at killing stuff, or load up your carrier with toys (like a JD3 or a cloak and CAU8) to compensate. The ship's vast cargohold is one of the few redeeming qualities, along with its sideways firepower (which doesn't do you any good when you are soloing, as you will mostly be chasing down other ships and thus be facing them with your forward-pointing guns only).
If you aren't into shooting other players so much, the carrier is great as a RP-platform. And it is getting a new, slimmer model in 4.87 and by the looks of the new shape alone I think we can expect a dramatically buffed carrier - perhaps even an over-powered one.
Yeah the first reason for me to have buyed a Carrier is that I want roleplay. I'm not interested in any destroying ships unless I need to. I was more looking to hunt some NPC's and doing Missions also RP patroling things like that you know.
Carrier is over powered anyway if it is in the right hands. Just one more thing. The carrier is best used sideways. You get 6 prims and 1/2 heavys. Dont EVER take anyone head on
